Looking for 1 maybe 2 GMs for a Fantrax - Dynasty style hockey league. The league is completely run through Fantrax at this time and uses contracts with a salary cap. 16 team league. Lots of roster turn over so since we only allow 1 extension period for players, makes rebuilding easy and keeps things fresh. Rules posted below. Please post your fantrax id if interested. League Rules --
Rosters
Active roster minimum is 25 players, maximum is 30 players. ( 4 centers, 8 wingers, 6 defense, 1 goalie, 11 bench)
Minor league minimum is 0 and maximum 10.
Releasing Players
Releasing a player with a salary over 750k a year will incur a 75% cap hit.
Players dropped will enter into a 2 week waiver period. If a team claims the player they inherit the contract and the releasing team is not penalized.
After the 2 week period the player is considered an unrestricted free agent and can be signed by any team. If a team put ins a claim on a player other teams have 48hours to put in a claim. If multiple teams issue a claim for a player, priority will be given to the team lowest in the league standings.
Cap hits can be spread out over the term of the players contract or paid as a one time lump sum.
The lump sum choice is a one time option when dropping the player.
Contract Limits/Extensions
All contracts must be no longer than 3 years. Contracts can be extended for a max of 2 years with an increase of 1 million to the original salary per year extended.
(ex. X player is making 3 million a year and you wish to extend for 2 years their contract value increases to 5million per year.) Contract extensions can only be made for players in their second year.
This will make a total contract 5 years ( 3 yr original contract + 2 yr extension)
When a player retires so does your obligation to honour their contract for the 2012/13 season,
Starting 2013/14 teams will still be responsible for players who retire cap hit. They can still be bought out under the normal buy out rules.
teams will be able to choose up to 3 players that are on the final year of their contract to apply a franchise tag too and will be able to extend them for up to 2 years. (1 million added to salary per year extended). The franchise tag can be used on the same player more than once.
Prospect Contracts
All prospect contracts start at 750k. Their contracts do not count against the cap while in the Minors.
Any prospects still Minors eligible can have their contract extended indefinitely untill they are no longer Minors eligible. Minors eligibility is based on age (max 25) or games played at NHL level (80 career total), whichever comes first.
The year that they are no longer eligible for the minor league will be the first year of their contract.
Example: Patrice Cormier plays 80games this year , his contract will be 750k - 1st year. Next year his contract would move to 2nd year.
If he fails to play 80 games, his contract next year would stay at 1st year.
Max # of Minor league contracts is 10.
Free Agency
All players coming off of contract will move to UFA. To pick up a free agent you must create a post under the players name with a total contract bid. Contracts can be no longer than 3 years. Minimum bid is 750k and bids will be in multiples of 100k.
Bids must be in this format. (length * yearly salary = total contract)(ex. 2yrs * 3 million = 6 million total contract.)
A player is won by the highest total contract value followed. Tie break goes to the team bidding the longer number of years due to the commitment.
The highest contract value wins the bid.
Contracts will have a diminishing value for each year. (This is only for the purpose of determining a winning bid)
1 yr - 100 % value
2nd yr - 50%
3rd yr - 50%
this means 10 million @ 3 yrs will equal a 20 million value (10 + 5+5)
if you bid 10million @ 2 yrs it would have a 15 million value (10+5)
so in this example to win this bid with a 1 yr offer you would need to bid 20.1 million @ 1 yr. (the tie in value goes to the longer contract)
To give a more realistic example.
If you bid Dan Boyle - 3 yrs @ 5 million (5+2.5+2.5) = 10 mill contract value.
next bid could be 2 yrs @ 7 mill (7+3.5) = 10.5 mill contract value.
next bid could be 3 yrs @ 6 mill (6+3+3) = 12 mill contract value.
There is no limit to the number of players that can be auctioned at one time or the number of bids for a player. A bid on a player is considered final when 48 hours has passed since the last bid.
No Variable Contracts: Each year of a contract must have the same salary amount. All contracts must be signed to at least $750k and must be in multiples of $100,000.
At no time can a team be over the cap unless they can make immediate changes in their roster(drop a player) You can not sign a player that will put you over the cap or over your roster limit expecting to make a trade. Anyone guilty of that will receive a warning and next offense will be fined their next years 3rd pick, if you don't have your 3rd pick your 2nd, no picks will result in a CAP decrease.
****** Players that have been drafted by an NHL team can be signed via free agency only after the yearly rookie draft. They will observe the same rules as normal free agency with one exception. They can not be assigned to the minors if they have been signed for 1million or more per year. They would need to be placed directly onto your active roster. *********
Yearly Rookie Draft
Trading of draft picks IS allowed.
We will have a 3 round prospect draft each year for the drafting of Minor leaguers. Draft order will be determined by reverse order of standings in the regular season. Only players currently drafted by an NHL team is allowed and must meet minor league eligibility.
Injured Players
Each team has 2 IR spots for injured players. While on IR Injured players do not count against your cap or roster limit.
IR spots can be used for short and long term injuries along with suspended players. You can leave a player on IR for an entire season even after they return playing but will be added back to your roster in the offseason.

Our cap is currently set at 85 million.
Trades
Picks can only be traded up to a max of 2 years in the future.
Roster Moves/trades/transactions:
- signings, trades and transactions can be made anytime during our regular season.
- After playoffs start transactions are locked including signings, trades.
- Transactions will stay locked until 1 week before our rookie draft to give everyone a hockey break.
