Glad you didnt mention anymore names there Gypsie , I still have a handful of guys to go.  I may wait until people break their bank or fill their rosters a bit more though. 
I am pretty sure we are looking at some of the same guys though.

This free agency period is playing out both points.  Snugerud and I wanted to be able to draft guys we researched, i.e. Barberio, Silfverberg, Niilson, and Rob wanted them to get fair market price.  Well their market price is a heck of a lot more then a prospect contract apparently.  So, I am now torn because I like the fact they are getting paid what they should, but hate I now have to pay them.

In World Cup we were able to draft these guys, I go barberio but missed on silfverberg but I drafted 6 guys that are not draft eligable in these other leagues. The problem is it takes most guys too long before you know if they are going to be productive players.

The league I commission is any player that has been drafted by or signed by a team that meets the minor league eligibility is open to be drafted. its been fairly good so far.  Fun to see who people take and who i missed out on.

Just to bring up and update an old discussion.  In my fantrax league we have since modified our rules to no longer allow signing of players that are minors eligible.  Players that are minors eligible can only be drafted but our draft remains open to any players that are part of the current years draft and previous drafts. 

It has made the draft picks much more valuable since guys like Foligno and a few others that had success at the NHL level but still hadn't played enough games to lose their minors eligibility. 

It has been received quite well so far and added a degree of difficulty since you cant just sign any young guy you want.  You have to plan ahead build your draft database and hope you made the right choice.

I like that idea. 

Also, not sure if anyone saw, but instead of giving out contractual rewards for people who earn the awards we vote on we could give out additional minor league roster spots.  You win an award you earn 1 more spot to a maximum of 2 extra spots.

it makes for a really interesting draft and you see guys scrambling to move up in drafts not just for the top 5 picks but the entire draft is relevant. 

BTW, i like your idea too,  not just because you liked my status but because its a good idea.  ha ha.

Like both ideas, but I like the not signing minor players the most! Definitely think this needs to be put into place!

I am warming up to this idea.  It especially makes sense for our league format, since not many other leagues I've seen have hometown keepers like we do, which takes about 50 players off the draft board right away.  Adding all prospect eligible players to the board would make things really interesting. 

Corey I saw your idea and I like it.  But I think the same arguments can be made against it as the contract discount reward.

Thats right come to the dark side.  I must say I miss being able to just go sign up the young guys but at the same time it makes for a challenge and more closely mimics NHL setup
