The Marlins are making this trade because we really have no depth at 2nd.  Weeks will be a huge upgrade up the middle and also adding Gamel with his versitility being able to play both 1st and 3rd will help out in the infield. Jones should help out the Brewers at first and platoon in the outfield where they lack depth to start off the season with Hart potenially being on the DL. Also the Marlins depth in the outfield made losing Jones less of a liability.
Losing an ace like Johnson would hurt any ballclub but with the depth we have in the starting rotation the slack should be picked up on the offensive side.  The Marlins also pick up a little cap relief and also get an extra year of Weeks over Johnson.

The added depth and flexibility for the Brewers with this trade is great, but the chance to add  an ace and potential strikeout leader and Cy Young candidate is a great move for any team.
