This was missed by myself but will be enforced from now on. It has been in the rules the whole time but I completely missed this many times this season. Minor league players can only be signed to 2 year contracts at the minimum. And drafted players (0 games played) can only be signed to a 2 or 3 year deal based on their games played.
0 games of NHL Experience - Can be signed to a (max) 3 year - two way contract or (min) 2 year - two way contract with the value of the contract dictated by draft position
1 - 39 games of NHL Experience - Can be signed only to a 2 year - two way contract with the value of the contract dictated by draft position or extension value (whichever is higher). This number is 1-29 games for goaltenders.
