I know he has come out of retirement before but am I able to drop him from my roster now without any cap adjustment or do I need to wait for NBA rosters to be "finalised"?

That article is an old article from April 2021 when he retired the first time due to his irregular heartbeat. He did not retire again since then so he doesn't qualify as a free release due to the retirement rule. As a new manager you have one free release you can use on any player on your team though without a cap hit. You can use that one free release on Aldridge or anyone else (Walker, Morris, etc.).
