Lakers/Clippers/Jazz - Blockbuster
« on: August 18, 2021, 02:41:27 AM »
:LAL: Lakers get:

PG John Wall $0m (2022) $13m (2025) - Via :UT:
SF Bojan Bogdanovic $18.7m (2023) - Via :UT:
C Daniel Gafford $0.9m (2022) $1.8m (2023) - Via :UT:
PF Daniel Theis $8m (2024) - Via :UT: and extended 3 years per :LAL: request
SF Doug McDermott  $5.5m (2025) - Via  :LAC:

:LAC: Clippers get:

SG Will Barton $10m (2025) - Via :UT:
PG Armoni Brooks $0.5m (2022) - Via :UT:
PF Jamaychal Green $4m (2023) - Via :UT: and extended 2 years per :LAC: request

:UT: Jazz get:

PG Kyrie Irving $30m (2023) (Lakers pay $25m for 2021-22 season, $15m for 2022-23 season) - Via :LAL:
SF Taureen Prince $14.5m (2022) (Lakers pay in full) - Via :LAL:
C Cody Zeller $2m (2023) (Clippers pay 2m in 2022) - Via :LAC:
2021 NBA Draft #9 pick (Alperen Sengun) - Via :LAL:
2022 Lakers 2nd rounder - Via :LAL:

Rare to see 3 way deals, but we got a big blockbuster here! Took previous deal between myself and Lakers that was put on hold and Clippers hoppped on board to help facilitate cap for everyone while getting players he wanted.

On my end I do this for similar reasons as orginal deal taking advantage of strong depth to add 1 star in Irving while simultaneously fixing my cap space issue. I also had interest in Zeller from Clippers while he took Barton + a few other pieces from me and routed McDermott to Lakers instead to get cap to work and players everyone prefered.

I had to get creative this offseason due to cap issues and this is just that. Hopefully all 3 teams benefit with this move. We had originally framework for 2 seperate deals that were shaky individually but lined up great as 3 way.

I agree to this trade. If I were to not be making this trade, I wouldn't have been able to extend AD's contract due to having only $28m in cap space (his contract would be $30m/year) and would be losing him either way.

This trade helps me solidify on my team depth with added reinforcements in all positions. If healthy, John Wall can still put up very decent numbers. I see some good upsides with Daniel Gafford and Doug McDermott's contributions to their team depths. Gafford, if given 36 minutes per game (he has an above average PER of 22.26), Gafford averaged 20.6 points, 11.3 boards, 3.6 blocks, 1.1 steals. In his longest run at 27 minutes so far back in April, Gafford's performance included 4 blocks and 4 steals. Time will tell how these good projected numbers translate into real production when Gafford gets a bigger role and I'm willing to be patient with him on this for some time.

Sorry for some initial confusion but hopefully this 3-way is better on the Lakers end and good all-around. Thanks to Vik and Brian for the trade.

Wouldn't AD's contract be 36 if he was at 30 last year? (30*1.2) - Last year is gone on the sheet so I can't really tell but since he was on a max in real life, assuming he was on a max here

Issue with this trade. :LAL: already dealt their 2022 2nd to :OKC:

They have their 2023 2nd if this is acceptable instead
