the dead line should be the start of FA
When we resolved to change the extension rules, we had to eliminate in-season extensions that would be based on an incomplete season. We decided to limit all extensions to the extension period we've always used for post-season transactions - from the end of our season through the end of June (start of entry draft). It's been pointed out that that deadline is arbitrary and we could just use the entire offseason as our extension period, and it won't affect the new extension rules in the least. Any opposition to updating this?
Would this take effect this year and allow us to sign players we've already let go to FA?
What's the reasoning? I can't think of a reason not to allow extensions all offseason.
