Mariners needed help at CI, and with Seager coming back this helps us get an immediate role. Fowler has been playing very well this season and he helps us for a playoff push. Thanks Flash!

The Giants are agreeing to this trade for future considerations.  Khris Davis, although injured at the moment, is an impact player who has two more years on a $4.0m contract.  His power bat, along with his team friendly contract, make him a welcome addition.  Dexter Fowler is having a good year, but with his current contract, the Giants would not be able to extend him for anything less than $7.5m.  Kyle Seaver was a risk when signed, coming off a down year, and then sustaining an injury which has kept him on the IL until today.  Given the other CIs on the Giants roster, his departure will be a continuation of what has already transpired this season.

Jed Lowrie is also injured, and bad contract, but he is fully paid for the season and if he doesn’t rebound to some semblance of success, will probably be bought out at season’s end.
