In regards to OF Mazara, Nomar, $0.5m (P-2019):

“3.) No matter what the current prospect contract is, the prospect extension kicks in the following year at the rate based on when the contract is given.”

If you extend him right now, his $0.5m (P-2019) contract will be immediately replaced with an extension of $4.0m (2023).  If you wait until the season begins, then “...This year stays at $0.5m and becomes 4m(2024)...”
