I consider this trade very passable. I'm not sure if the Islanders were serious about backing out our if the discussion just got a little heated.

Rinne could have maybe gotten a little more, but I really think his days are numbered with Saros nipping at his heels. It would be different if the Preds didn't have an heir-apparent in waiting.

Considering the return I got for Luongo and Anderson recently, two decent but older goalies, I'd say this is better. I had those guys on the market for like 2 seasons. All Fabbro has pretty great upside, he'll be a great player in Nashville or elsewhere if he's stuck behind a logjam. The 2nd rd is decent, and Dell was getting talking about like the next Talbot or Darling... though we see what happened with Darling. Dell could be a fringe starter, even if that is unlikely.

yes since there is only 1 opposing the trade I still accept it. and sorry i said that because I was a little frustrated that it may have been seemed by some that I was taking advantage of a new team owner.

Not sure if anyone saw Rinne's end of season interviews, but he said about Saros “I’m personally very happy for him, seeing the success he’s having … He’ll be playing more and is only getting better. I can’t see the future, but at some point it’s time to step aside. He’s coming.”  Doesn't sound like a guy who will be a full-time starter for 3 more years at 7m.

yes I saw it before we made the deal, thats what I been saying. I think he will not play more than 50 games this year then who knows what will happen after that

You're both still happy with the proposed trade after it was scrutinized, so in my books, that's great. Both GM's happy at the end of the day = good trade!

Moving forward I think we should clearly address an issue that was raised here. Namely: rescinding an offer while it is being deliberated upon. Personally I don't think this is (or should be) allowed. If an offer has been made and accepted publicly, it should be binding pending the outcome of the voting process.

Would love to hear from the Commish on this.
