MI Bogerts, Xander $0.5m (P-2017) please extend contract 3-yrs (2020)

I'm having an issue with Desmond's Fantrax ranking as a MI in 2015. If you select him in the 2015 season he accumulated 3298 pts. But, he is being categorized as an OF when in fact, he was strictly a SS (MI). There is no record there of him being a MI so I can't determine his ranking.
I have contacted Fantrax and I'm waiting for an answer. At the moment, I would suggest that you wait until after 7/31 when the 2015 numbers will no longer be part of the equation.

As for Bogaerts; his extension would be based on his 2015 ranking as #10 MI ($9.5m). At the 60% prospect discount his extension would be $5.5m BUT you must sign him for 5 years to get that price.

Please advise.

I checked Ian Desmond's 2015 numbers and I don't see where the 3298 points accumulated is noted.  The top scoring MI in 2015 was Jose Altuve with 3185.56 points.

In 2015, Desmond had an MI rank of #63 with 957.36 points

In 2016, Desmond had an MI rank of #23 with 2305.84 points = $5.0m
In 2016, Desmond had an OF rank of #41 with 2303.60 points = $4.0m

Based on these figures, the extension would be $5.0m for 3 years

In regards to Xander Bogerts, the extension could be $5.5m for 5 years, but the extension would go into effect immediately based on this rule.

Section F- Prospect Extension (went into effect after 2010 season)
Item AIX F-1.0
1.) Any player who is currently under a prospect contract may be signed to a regular contract extension (see below), but they may also be signed to a prospect extension.
2.) Prospect extensions are subject to the following stipulations:
a.) The extension must be a 5-year deal where the annual salary is X% of their market value.
b.) The resulting annual salary must be no less than $4m.
3.) No matter what the current prospect contract is, the prospect extension kicks in the following year at the rate based on when the contract is given.

I would recommend waiting until the season begins before authorizing this extension.

Desmond will play for $2.5m in 2017, then his $5.0m extension will go into effect until (2020).

Maybe you failed to read the rule I posted regarding Prospect Extensions.  The extension for MI Bogaerts, Xander, $0.5m (P-2017) will go into effect in 2017 because that is the following year following when the extension was given.  MI Bogaerts, Xander, will be $5.5m (2021), with his salary for 2017 being $5.5m, not $0.5m.  Is that what you want to do?

I am chiming in because I want to make sure I understand this rule also. Is this new rule where prospect goes into effect immediately? Following has always meant the very next year.

I am chiming in because I want to make sure I understand this rule also. Is this new rule where prospect goes into effect immediately? Following has always meant the very next year.

By definition, 2017 is the following year because we are in the off-season.

"3.) No matter what the current prospect contract is, the prospect extension kicks in the following year at the rate based on when the contract is given."

If the extension is given during the off-season, in this case, MI Bogaerts, Xander, $0.5m (P-2017), then the following year becomes 2017, not 2018.  Therefore, if the extension is given at any time during the 2017 season, then the following year becomes 2018 because the contract extension is based on when the contract is given.

In the interest of clarity, it bears repeating, this is not a new rule, and regarding your point that "Following has always meant the very next year.", we are in agreement, if the extension is given now, 2017 becomes the following year. If it is given during the season, then the following year becomes 2018.

No, I understand now.  Forget the extension on Bogaerts as I will wait on that suggestion. I will do the extension on Desmond as I do want him on my team in future years. Thanks Flash.
