Current Playoff Picture (Begins March 12th)

After this week there are only 2 weeks remaining in the season. The top 7 tops have made the playoffs but that last spot is anyone's game and we all know what the real LA Kings can do when they make the playoffs. The BY Kings on the other hand have basically all but locked up the last overall spot in the league and have the best shot at picking 1st overall in the 2016 draft but as we know by the real Oilers that winning the lottery is never a sure thing for the last overall team. Montreal and Tampa Bay are currently the only other teams that are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
Huge congrats goes to the Dallas Stars on making their first ever BY playoffs (correct me if I am wrong). There have been a lot of rough years but this team has finally made the show and is on the upswing! Sorry this may be premature but with 2 days left, Dallas makes the playoff if both Pittsburgh and Toronto lose which it looks like will happen.

This year's playoff will be anyone's game! Lots of great match-ups in the  first round with so many possibilities for the second round! There is also good parity between the divisions with 2 from the Central and 3 from both the Pacific and Atlantic.

For the President: It comes down to , , and . If St Louis and Philadelphia loses and Chicago wins, Chicago wins President. If St Louis loses and Philadelphia wins, Philadelphia wins the President no matter what Chicago does. If St Louis wins, St Louis wins the president no matter what.

(That lose to Chicago is biting me in the butt lol)

For the Central: If St Louis loses and Chicago wins, Chicago wins the Central. If St Louis wins, St Louis wins the Central no matter what Chicago does.

For 7th and 8th: There is a small chance Dallas does not make the play offs. If Dallas loses and both Vancouver and Pittsburgh wins, Dallas is out of the play offs based on tie breakers. Vancouver would be 7th and Pittsburgh would be 8th. If Dallas wins, they are in the play offs as 7th no matter what else happens. If Vancouver wins, they are in the play offs as 8th no matter what happens. If Pittsburgh wins and Vancouver loses, Pittsburgh is in the play offs as 8th.

Compared to where the Rangers were last season, this is a dramatic turn around.

It's almost playoff time! This appears to be the matchups pending any miracles. A couple divisional matchups as well as some solid sleeper teams should be another great competitive playoff in the Backyard!
