Can you please make it a P-2017? Thanks
jblum:
Wilson Ramos is classified as a (P-2014) because he surpassed his prospect threshold of 50 games (for position players) during the 2011 season when he played in 113 games (with 22 other games played in 2010). When a player passes that 50 game threshold his prospect lasts for only three more years. Here is the section from the FGM rules on contracts that pertains to Wilson Ramos' status:
"The contract lasts for three years after the point they accumulate 40 IP (pitcher) or play in 50 games (position player). They may accumulate this over multiple years, but the three year rule does not take effect until the year they actually hit the accumulation threshold."With this in mind, Wilson Ramos is a (P-2014) and will become a free agent at the end of the season unless you extend his contract. Ramos can be signed to an extension based on this section from the FGM rules:
"Any player who is currently under a prospect contract may be signed to a regular contract extension (see below), but they may also be signed to a prospect extension. Such an extension must be a 5-year deal where the annual salary is X% of their market value. The resulting annual salary must be no less than $4m. No matter what the current prospect contract is, the prospect extension kicks in the following year at the rate based on when the contract is given.
For the 20XX season, the following percentages would be used per prospect status.
20XX - 60%
20XX+1 - 50%
20XX+2 - 40%
20XX+3, n/a - 30%"The only other thing for your consideration is that:
"This window for prospect extensions is open until one week prior to the beginning of offseason free agency."Based on this scenario, you could extend Ramos in one of two ways:
A) 5-year contract of $4.0m because that is the required minimum. That is based on the following player ranking for Wilson Ramos:
----2014 - #26 - 632.8 points
----2013 - #30 - 668.4 points
With these rankings, the percentage rule does not apply because of the $4.0m minimum. The other alternative is:
B: 3-year contract extension of $2.0m based on the contract scale = C-26 $2m (Cervelli, Francisco)
Sorry for the long post, but I believe I am correct in this assessment. I hope it helps you understand the rules a bit, and I'm sure shooter or another member of the Rules Committee will correct me is I'm mistaken.
