Im happy with this deal, looking to clear some cap and bring in two players that will help me push for top spot in the league.

First to clarify that is Brett Connolly not Tim.
Another try at a trade here. Take out Johnson and put in high potential but underachieving Brett Connolly and a late pick. Rather have Johnson but trying to get a deal done to pick up some young guys.

Connolly is tearing it up in the A right now. He's a 6th over-all pick who is still only 21. In terms of talent, this is not at all a downgrade on Johnson. That said at 84 NHL games played, Connolly is no longer eligible for a two-way contract and will be 'stuck' on the main roster at $0.7m, probably through 2016. I do not like the inclusion of the 5th round pick and if anything I think it should be going the other way, but that's a close enough margin for me to give it a pass.

Keeping Johnson's strong production and his affordable two-way contract puts the Win in Winnipeg.
