Minor League Teams on Fantrax

I have been working on different ways to load up the minor league teams on Fantrax.  While doing this I have noticed that there are many issues with this as a ton of players aren’t available on Fantrax.

I know I had said I wanted to add these, but there are so many players not in the database it makes it pointless.

That being said I will have Fantrax set-up in November most likely ready for the 2014 season!  Only our 40-man rosters will be represented.

I have paid for a full Premium membership giving us the ability to have all 30 teams in one league.  If things go better this year I will be evoking a small payment for the 2015 season to pay for the Premium Addition.  We can discuss this as the season moves on.  This will cover the Fantrax Administration costs.

I will be giving add and drop capabilities for each GM for their own team.  It will be up to each owner to post their transactions in the transactions forum on ProFSL then process the add or drop on Fantrax as the season moves on.  I will update the roster spreadsheet.

All Waivers are open for 48 hours but once posted you can drop your player and if you are bringing someone up from the minor leagues then obviously you can add them.

If for any reason this process of Adding and Dropping players is miss used or abused after a fair warning the privledges will be taken away.  Last year it was fine but then once we got some new owners they just started adding players from the waiver wire.

Remember you cannot just go and pick up someone from the waiver wire as a small Yahoo type league.  This is a deep league with deep rosters and all transactions are done on the ProFSL boards.

I will also be looking for a couple Fantrax Administrators who can help out with processing trades adding signed Free Agents and ironing out any problems that may arise like GMs who add players from the waiver wire.  If you are interested please respond to this thread or PM me.

The AFB 2014 amateur draft will be starting on October 25th.

Rules

The draft will be a minimum of 10 rounds and players will be chosen for teams that don't have GMs.  A 12-hour clock for each pick in the first 20 rounds.  After 20 rounds the remaining GMs will be on an 8 hour clock.  The draft will continue for a maximum of 40 rounds until the end of February 2014 or until all organizations forfeit their picks.  If a pick is missed it can be made up at any time.  If you miss a pick your next pick will be Autoskipped until you make up your previous pick.  This will speed up the draft if need be.

Space needs to be available on your roster in order to make picks.  Please make sure you have adequate space.  Any player not drafted will become a FA.

Please try and PM the GM that is up next.  Chris and I will try and keep up with it but as we are all busy it is better to have more help!

Draft Thread is here - http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=114608.0

Chrisetc21 will be helping out with the draft as well.

Only players that were drafted in the 2013 MLB draft and that signed pro contracts before the signing deadline are eligible to be drafted.  Other players that may have signed late or signed as FAs after the draft will be available in FA.  Please only choose players in the list.

Eligible Draft Players are here - http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=112537.0

Official Draft Board will periodically be updated here on the google spreadsheet - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AgJNRgyntNO1dFVnb2ZvSDdiYVpyQjhUZFFJSHZ1Vnc&output=html

Chris and I will be updating the Eligible draft player list as we go along and crossing out any chosen players.

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me or post them on the boards for answers.  This should be a fun draft.  Remember it’s a slow draft and will take about 3 months.  But gives everyone ample time to make their picks and build their teams.

That is all for now!

Cheers,

Lando

Question, shouldn't draft eligible players that weren't drafted but signed contracts be eligible for our draft as long as the signing can be veriified?  I don't see a problem with that as long as the owner drafting that player can confirm the signng with a link to the source.

The list has been tabulated to include all signed players.  This does not mean I didn't miss someone for sure.

Any player drafted in the 2013 draft that signed a contract with a :MLB: team is eligible.  Players that were drafted and signed in other years are not as they are FAs in our league.

If a player is not on the list then when drafted just post a link so we know he is eligible.

No I'm saying a player eligible to be drafted for the first time this year that went undrafted but signed with an MLB team this year.

No he is FA.  Only drafted players in this draft.

Same as all leagues I run.  Like Kendbrell Thompkins and Zach Sudfeld a couple of huge undrafted NFL players were only available as FA in my leagues and actually any league I played in.  Glad I didn't overpay for Sudfeld!  LOL.

Sorry but I have a similar question.  I think an NFL league, no minors, and MLB league, lots and lots of minors, are very different.  Say someone was missed in a previous draft and is performing very well in the low minors and is still a few years away from contributing, I would have to sign them to a 5 year FA deal just to hope to get to use them for 1 or 2 years?
In 2 other leagues I am in we are allowed to draft in minor leaguer who is not on another squad of course.  This makes more sense to me than signing them to a FA deal.

You can offer prospect contracts or minor league deals to any player.

Sorry but if it is a minor leaguer who is not available to draft this year can that contract be offered right now?

No.  I know it doesn't quite resemble MLB but there has to be dates aligned in order to keep up with administration.  FA will open in January.  Announcements to come.
