I'd like to welcome our two newest Red Sox in Darvish and Andrelton Simmons, pending commish approval. Darvish gives me a reason to be excited for 2014, as a front 3 of him, Buchholz, and Fernandez is arguably the best front 3 in Armchair. I hate to lose Gonzo, one of the best and most consistent 1B in baseball, plus Inglesias, whom I expect to be a big-league starter for a long time, but it frees up my payroll in order to take on Darvish. As for Simmons, I'm not expecting much due to his poor performance thus far at the big-league level, but anything he can do is a bonus.

Simmons: Team control until 2018

I agree to this trade proposed by the Red Sox. With Todd Helton and Justin Morneau's contracts expiring, that will leave a hole for me at first base and shortstop which Gonzo and Iglesias will fill. Gonzalez and Iglesias are both signed through '16 and '18 respectively, so that will give me assurance at shortstop and first base for years to come. Although it's tough to give up someone like Darvish who has shown that he is an ace on any pitching staff and Simmons who is young, it will be worth it long-term for the Rangers.
