:MIN-NHL: receives:

Alex Ovechkin, $9.5m (2013-14)
Adam McQuaid, $1.0m (2013-14)

:DET-NHL: receives:

Ryan O'Reilly, $1.9m (2013-14)
Max Talbot, $2.5m (2013-14)
Niklas Hjalmarsson, $1.4m (2014-15)
Jonas Hiller $4.5m (2013-14)
Jared Cowen, $2.0m (2013-14)

:MIN-NHL: confirms.  I'm not real high on Hiller, but he does have a shot of getting the majority of start in Anaheim.  I have pretty decent depth at G, even though I don't have a "starter".  I really don't mind moving Talbot, Hjalmarsson, or Cowen, but O'Reilly was hard to move.  I think he has a ton of upside.  That said, I was desperate for a winger.  Ovechkin is my answer.  I think he has a lot of good year left.  McQuaid was just a throw in.

Thanks for the deal thunder!  :toast:

Yes because Hiller alone should get more points then Ovechkin.

Hmmmmm on the fence here as well, I see Hillier as a starting G and O'Reilly is a young stud, the rest added is a lot. Yes Ovie us Ovie but I think FP wise it is a blowout getting a starting G plus a stud young player who put up great FP plus great supporting cast

Not sure heee

Ok, I understand.  I really just think goalies are a bit over rated in this league.  Hiller split starts at the end of last year, and Anaheim has two great young goalies coming up.  I do like O'Reilly, but he has had trouble off the ice, and the rest of the guys were really just throw in's.  That's fine if people don't pass it, but I just think Ovechkin is a top 2 or 3 fantasy hockey player, and I was willing to pay this price.

I really just think goalies are a bit over rated in this league.

They are overrated but needed!  With the way the points are set-up and starting 2 each night Goalies are above and beyond the kings of this league.

That being said Ovechkin's contract is huge so the addition of the all players is one of the only ways to make the cap balance.

Whatever floats your boat!

 :iatp:

But love :DET-NHL: get here especially with what I gave up for Backstrom.  Thunder is on fire!

I am ok with this Hiller was splitting starts with Fasth but did make all the playoff starts. That being said the ducks have a goalie named John Gibson coming up that may only be a year away from challenging at the NHL level. Ovie should be a bit cheaper of a resign but I don't mind the high risk, high reward moves.

Norry, going in understands the value of goalies in this league. He assessed his roster, saw he needed LW help, and to achieve his goal of a top flight LW dangled Hiller out there in a offer. He has 3 other 1A-B goalies. We worked out a deal. Players involved to even out the cap hit. There is no sure thing in any trade. We critique it but eventually the future will unfold the story on this trade . You have to give up a lot to acquire a player of Ovechkin's caliber. My trade with the Jets was not announced until I had secured Hiller from Minnesota. I traded Backstrom knowing I had Hiller coming. Hope my season does not go down the drain now. Its a fair trade all in all.
