Here is our current system:

Contract Limits
All contracts must be no longer than 4 years.  Also, for a given salary, all contacts (extension, FA) have term limits (max years contract can be per the salary) as provided below.

Maximum Years
</= $2.9m, 2 years
$3.0m - $6.4m, 3 years
>$6.5m, 4 years
Contracts can be less in length then the given values but can't exceed the given years. Ex. a 9 million free agent bid can be a 3 year - $3m, 2 year - $4.5m, or a 1 year - $9m but can not be a 4 year - $2.3m
Note: Maximum dollars for a single season is $10m

Wondering what everyone would think of changing it to:

Seems like so far there have been way too many 2 year contracts which will lead to large influx of free agents every year. This would keep cores and 2-3m players on teams for more then 2 years.

With the new extension rule (extensions are really extensions now), I don't see this being necessary... That rule change cleared up this problem. I say lets see how the new extensions rule pans out first.

I think it is fine the way it is.

We already started it that way, keep it the way it is as. For example Purcell would a 3 year contract now if it were changed back then and I would have signed him for 3 years, instead of a 2 year deal. Other managers might have done the same sign their core players to longer deals, as I stated before leave it the way it is IMO

Ok sounds good, we will leave it as it is
