Tyler Myers and years

I just took over the Buffalo sabres and this is my first time playing in a salary cap league. I have a few questions. Tyler Myers is on my 30 man roster but does not have a salary. What is his salary or do I have to sign him to one? Also the year in brackets behind him is 2009. What happens here? I certainly dont want to lose him. Also the players that have 2010 in brackets, does that mean their contracts run out after the 2010-2011 season? And 2011 in brackets, does that mean contracts run out after the 2011-2012 season?

You are right about the contracts and years in the parentheses. You are not gonna lose Myers, some of the first-year players were in contract limbo when the league was set up. Joe or Corey could probably explain it better. You will probably have the opportunity to offer your players a contract extension at the end of the season for players with (2010) or you can let them become free-agents, in which those players are open to the bidding process in the transaction thread.

Said perfectly.  We're almost done approving extensions right now.  Once they're set up you will be able to extend your players before they hit free agency both expired contracts and players without contract values.

My roster page has my salary at $52.574 million. I just added up and the total I get is $58.64. Is the roster page wrong or is there some salary that for whatever reason is not counting against the cap?
