Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / PREDATORS GET WILD!!« on: June 10, 2012, 04:56:27 PM »Mark Olver, $0.2m (2012-13) :Nashville: 4th Round Pick *Kimmo Timonen, $6.3m (2012-13) Henrik Karlsson, N/C (26 games) Deal is pretty straight forward I think. I wanted a goalie prospect and Timmonen is window dressing. Thanks Norrya! 3604

Well if a goalie scores in the last second of the 3rd to tie the game he doesn't get an extra point and win it too. Just sayin.

Yeah, at almost $5m Pronger is a tough call-up. I'm thinking insurance in case Karlsson gets hurt.

*Andrew Ference, $2.3m (2012-13)
*Chris Pronger, $4.9m (2013-14) I'll eat the cap space to sit on Chris Concussion Pronger. 3608
Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Re: Flyers/Predators deal« on: May 30, 2012, 08:16:57 PM »First off, I aologize to SlackJack on the mouldy cheese comment on my assessment on the trade. Definately not called for and very classless on my part. I still don't like the trade but who am I to even evaluate anyways. The trade commitee is composed of extremely competent individuals who have a vast knowledge of the players and always make rational asessments of trades. Sorry once again. No worries Thunderblade. I'll happy justify the merits of a trade, just not my motive. 3609

JVR was indeed concussed last year....along with roughly 10% of all active players in the NHL. The baseline for diagnoses has changed so dramatically as to make concussion issues unavoidable. Therefore I have as much faith in JVR's future health as I do in any of my players. That is to say I have none.
I am also not certain that Alexander Edler remains Vancouver's best choice for power-play quarterback. There is a lot of talk in this market about bringing in someone else to fill that role because Edler's performance has been wildly inconsistent. What I am certain of is that I would not be resigning him at $6.8m per year, though I would definitely pick up Patrice Bergeron's contract if it was on the table. I make trades based on a lot of different criteria, such as the fact that I've cleared $.8m in cap space and that JVR is only 23 years old. I also really like the fact that he was picked 2nd over-all. I find nothing ludicrous about my assessment. To the contrary, I feel like the trade is a win win if not an outright triumph in my favour. Now this is me expressing my opinion: If someone is going to take a run at a deal I have agreed to I would prefer to read a well thought-out critique than random comments like it smells like cheese. 3610

Agreed, confirmed, signed and delivered. Resigning Edler next year wasn't going to happen so thanks to Favo I get JVR on a nice contract in return for last seasons 3rd ranked defenceman and save a bit of cap as well. Thanks for the straight forward deal.
