RFA and Rookie Contracts
« on: December 12, 2020, 03:24:41 PM »
Based on some inconsistencies brought with initial set up and to ensure we have a uniform rule for all players, I believe the below would be fair changes. Please feel free to weigh in and I have the poll as a simple yes or no. Ideally this can pass but if there is strong objection open to modifying and discussing further, just want things to be conistent. If this does passes changes will be made all together nd will update rules accordingly on games played, plus keep in mind this is mostly a 1 time cleanup.

Reviewing discussion thread and some talk with a few teams via PM in very simple terms we are looking at this:

Players with 0-29 NHL games played start with full rookie contracts
Players with 30+ NHL games played start with actual contract

So players who at this point in time have 0-29 NHL games played in their career would be on a full rookie contract and then once they cross 30 the contract changes to current season + the 2 years and then RFA status like league rules state. Any player right now who has more then 30 NHL games in prior years would start with whatever their actual contract currently is in the NHL.

Note: if you see * beside your player this means they require a call up or free drop. Also if this officially passes from the time it does, I will give 1 week deadline on these guys so you can also consider trades as a way to open spots/cap if needed.

Hopefully below covers everything and most teams not effected much with a few exceptions:

Nashville is largely unaffected by the proposed changes.
I am in favor of whatever makes this easier for the admins (running a number of leagues myself, easier is better IMO  lol)

Why not (under 40 NHL games played) like Dynasty and Backyard?
I vote yes, I'm just asking.

Whether that's a good idea or not isn't really relevant for this change. Maybe bring this up separately for discussion if you feel strongly.

Agree, and for now any other number would have been too drastic of a change given initial set up.

Also appreciate quick and early feedback, looks like this should be good to go but keep it up a day or 2 before finalizing.
