What are the tie-breakers during the playoffs?  Is it still based on which team is leading in the Combined Standings?

What are the weekly requirements for AB/IP?

There is no official tie-breaker, but it will be based on which team had the home-field advantage (better seed).  The home teams are your Brewers, Phillies, Yankees, and Angels.  There is no setting on Fantrax for min AB/IP, but to prevent some team from really taking advantage of the pitching ratios, I am enforcing a minimum IP of 10 innings.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.991 - 1.061 - 31.8 - 1 - 1.28 - 7
Minnesota Twins  - 1 - 0.98 - 20 - 2.56 - 1.43 - 5

The Twins are struggling, but have managed to tighten up the series with good defense, and better than what it appears pitching (2.56 K/BB).  Their pitching staff is struggling right now though, so it remains to be seen how long that will last.  If they can take FLD%, K/BB, and WHIP then they will upset the Yankees 8-4!

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.845 - 15.9 - 2.71 - 1.14 - 9
Los Angeles Angels  - 0.97 - 0.763 - 17.5 - 2.67 - 1.26 - 3

The most interesting series continues to be in the Red Sox favor as the real-life Red Sox beat up on the real-life Angels.  The Red Sox are doing it all right now.  They are fielding perfectly, sporting a team OPS in the mid 800's, and have a 2.71 K/BB and 1.14 WHIP.  The Angels' stats are good, but not that good, but there are three days left.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.991 - 0.721 - 14 - 2.2 - 1.5 - 5
Los Angeles Dodgers  - 0.984 - 0.734 - 12.9 - 4.67 - 1.22 - 7

The series remains tight and the Dodgers lead thanks to sick pitching ratios - 4.67 K/BB, 1.22 WHIP.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
Florida Marlins  - 0.979 - 0.895 - 15.3 - 1.91 - 1.82 - 5
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.979 - 0.657 - 10.2 - 2.62 - 1.21 - 7

The Marlins are not pitching as great as the Brew Crew, and they can't afford a tie here as the wildcard team.  Their only chance is to improve the K/BB ratio, keep hitting and field well for the rest of the week.

___________________________________

I still think the Phillies are going to advance, but that Red Sox - Angels series is very one-sided.  Eric hasn't messed with the winning formula of his predecessor, Theo Epstein, and this could lead them to another historic ALCS against the Yankees!

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.991 - 1.061 - 31.8 - 1 - 1.28 - 7
Minnesota Twins  - 1 - 0.98 - 20 - 2.56 - 1.43 - 5

The Bronx Bombers are still holding on strong with 31.8 runs created, a ridiculous 1.061 OPS, and a 1.28 WHIP.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.83 - 18.5 - 2.91 - 1.24 - 3
Los Angeles Angels  - 0.973 - 0.72 - 19 - 3 - 1.11 - 9

Wow, this series has turned around.  The Angels were being shut out in the categories all week long, but the categories were all within their grasp.  Not much separates these teams at all.  This will come down to tomorrow night's final games for sure.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.993 - 0.697 - 16.7 - 3.5 - 1.16 - 8
Los Angeles Dodgers  - 0.984 - 0.72 - 12.7 - 5 - 1.21 - 4

The Phillies are pitching very well, hitting a bit better than the Dodgers and fielding well.  However, the Dodgers are not that far behind either.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
Florida Marlins  - 0.983 - 0.858 - 17.9 - 2 - 1.74 - 6
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.982 - 0.677 - 11.8 - 2.71 - 1.18 - 6

The problem for Mr. Moneyball (Marlins GM Jorge) is that his team needs to pitch.  Under next year's scoring layout, the fish would actually have an advantage as pitching wouldn't be 50% of the scoring.  As long as the Brewers hold the pitching categories, they will advance to the NLCS.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.988 - 1.026 - 41.9 - 2 - 1.2 - 7
Minnesota Twins  - 1 - 0.975 - 27.5 - 2.27 - 1.255 - 5

Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.821 - 28.5 - 2.56 - 1.216 - 12
Los Angeles Angels  - 0.977 - 0.64 - 20.9 - 2.23 - 1.219 - 0

Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.995 - 0.751 - 25.5 - 3.13 - 1.151 - 8
Los Angeles Dodgers  - 0.979 - 0.817 - 23.7 - 3.44 - 1.327 - 4

Florida Marlins  - 0.988 - 0.877 - 25.7 - 2.25 - 1.434 - 6
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.977 - 0.685 - 18.8 - 2.73 - 1.14 - 6

More commentary will follow later, but the Brewers advance thanks to home field advantage.

ALCS: Yankees vs. Red Sox
NLCS: Phillies vs. Brewers

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 1 - 0.677 - 5.2 - 1 - 1.655 - 4
Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.878 - 10.5 - 0.75 - 1.4 - 8

Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.958 - 0.95 - 4.2 - 6 - 0.75 - 6
Milwaukee Brewers  - 1 - 1.139 - 10.1 - 5 - 1 - 6

The Red Sox and Brew Crew are averaging five runs per game here.  The Phillies pitching stays ahead of the game, keeping them ahead of the visiting Brewers.

A Bush meltdown and a great day by the Phils might be enough to bring our season to an end... going to take some great pitching by my Phillies (Lee and Pedro) to make a comeback.
