His production hasn't matched his salary the last couple of years so we will take the pick and move on from him.

3rd Rd Pick 2017 Draft

It's the last year of his contract and I can't see extending him at 5m when we already have Chad Johnson, Mike Smith & Bobrovsky eating up a lot of my cap and hopefully starts in goal. Figured it would be good to get an asset for him and free up more cap to make another move to add a player later on.

Basically this is a salary dump. We are 1-11 and aren't going anywhere this year. Marleau will be 38 next year and I feel his 7.3m can be better spent elsewhere.

  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.
