Colorado Rockies History
2021:
1st in NL West (140-22)
The
had another tremendous season, dominating the NL West from wire to wire. The
have a potent lineup and a equally capable pitching staff.
and
pushed the
all season long, but when the campaign ended, the
had the best record in FGM baseball and emerged as the #1 Seed. Unfortunately, injuries proved to be a significant factor as 5
pitchers went on the IL. With those injuries, the
hitters picked an in opportune time to go into a week long slump and the
came up short in their NLDS with the
. In spite of this disappointment, the
seem set to make another run in 2022.
2020:
1st in Western Division (56-4)
After dominating the Western Division during the regular season, the
emerged as the #1 Seed. After a 1st Round bye, the
took apart the
in Round 2. In the World Series, however, the
batters went into a weeklong slump and the
ended up losing to the
.
2019:
1st in NL West (110-52)
The
closed the regular season with a great rush and was able to win the NL West by a single game. This enabled them to have a 1st round bye in the playoffs as the #3 seed. In the NLDS, the
met up with the
, and unfortunately, ran into a buzz saw. The
can certainly point to 2019 as a season of success and they have some high quality players to meet the challenges of the 2020 season.
2018:
1st in NL West (125-37)
The
hired a new GM in Paul S. and the franchise experienced a great turnaround and zoomed to the top of the NL West. The
defeated the
in the NLDS, but lost to the
, the eventual 2018 FGM Champion in the NLCS. Paul S. did an amazing job adding free agents throughout the season and negotiating some key trades. The future looks bright for the
.
2017:
4th in NL West (57-105)
The
did little to improve themselves during the off-season, and their SPs and RPs could not mask the deficiencies throughout the
everyday lineup. The resident GM has turned in his resignation for the upcoming season, so 2018 will find a new GM in the
front office.
2016:
4th in NL West (50-107)
There was some confusion at the management level in 2016. A new GM took control shortly after the end of last year, but he left the league abruptly after the start of the season. He was replaced by a new GM in short order, but unfortunately, there was not much he could do to improve the team and, sadly, the
regressed during the 2016 campaign. Although it had a decent pitching corp, it’s everyday lineup could not produce enough to remain competitive, and they tumbled to 4th in the standings. To add insult to injury, the new GM left at the end of the season.
2015:
2nd in NL West (58-32)
The
again finished 2nd in the NLWest, but it was not enough to make the playoffs. Successes from the previous year didn’t materialize in the current season and the
were left wondering what the future would bring as their GM abandoned the team in a mass exodus to another site.
2014:
2nd in NL West (94-47)
Success arrived in 2014 for the
. With a lineup featuring Troy Tulowitzki and JD Martinez,
made the playoffs as a Wild Card team. In the NLDS,
squeaked by the
in a bit of an upset. Then in the NLCS, the winning continued win the defeat of the
. In the World Series, however, the bubble burst and the
met defeat at the hands of the Bronx Bombers.
2013:
2nd in NL West (76-65)
The
continued to improve and experienced some success as they moved up one slot in the standings. The
will seek to improve on their limited success during the offseason and add some players which will help them make the playoffs.
2012:
3rd in NL West (72-90)
After a lull of inactivity managing the front office, Reid was fired by Colorado. The Rockies then hired the well known Eric to be the new GM. The team was 12-20 at the time of hiring. Despite over a year of waiting, Eric resigned as the team slipped to 27-45. He could not commit himself to the franchise anymore. In what was turning to be a disaster of a season, the Rockies hired their third GM on June 6th by bringing on Kris (speedster).
The new GM wanted to keep this team in the hunt, but with the trade deadline looming and the team starting in a big hole, he decided to sell players. However, Kris was committed to the core of the team. Despite many big offers, Ryan Zimmerman, Troy Tulowitzki, Jay Bruce, and Dustin Pedroia all remained Rockies. Colorado had a 45-45 record under speedster, held its core, made some deals, and built something for the 2013 season.
2011:
2nd in NL West (96-66)
The Rockies were a team to beat in the first two months of the season thanks to Howe's allstar squad. He then packed it up for rival Los Angeles
. Reid took over the contending Rockies one week later. Colorado struggled for a couple weeks and was unable to regain its presence in the standings. The Rockies finished as the 5th best team in the NL, 3 games back in the NL Wildcard race.
2010:
4th in NL West (76-86)
Call him a celebrity recruiter because GM Howe Cheng brings in star power. In early 2010, he pulled off deals that enabled David Wright, Justin Upton, Matt Wieters, and Dan Haren all to come to Colorado without Troy Tulowitzki leaving. Much of the supporting cast and other stars such as Hawpe, Helton, and the pitching staff went out the door though. The team was built on offense with barely any pitching which crushed the high expectations that many saw for the Rockies in 2010. However, with a great farm and money to spend, the team is destined to compete in 2011.
2009:
2nd in NL West (90-72)
The Rockies finished one game out (extrapolated) from the Dodgers and missed the playoffs. This caused ownership to fire the GM for being so complacent with a team in the hunt.

Not everyone trades. But agreed, for one sport folk like myself. It requires patience

Cant just trade because its fun. There needs to be a purpose behind trading. Get guys you believe in or need to keep improving.

NFL LIVE has the toughest GMs & football is the toughest fantasy sport for DYNASTY. Redraft will always be King of football.

That's what I mean by limited assets

And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet. Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.

@Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.

@jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe. I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade. Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for. I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

Football is just harder. You can build a team and 3 years later its irrelevant due to injury, retirement, roster turnover.

Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...

Nope, 32-team contract league.

@Alpha I do make trades. I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
Today

Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
Today

Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).

@idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen

Today

Agreed. I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ. I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
Today
at 02:09:02 PM

That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so. And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.

I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild. Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season. I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.

Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did

And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide

Thank you. Yes, I agree. I do need to break one asset down to 3. I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers. Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that. I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
