Dallas is excited to add a great young goalie with loads potential even thou it comes with some risks. We are also happy to plug one of our holes at the LW position. Lethonen is tough to let go, but with the extra cap space now and potential super star comming back it's worth the risk. Wasington to confirm.

Washington confirms the trade.

It is always difficult to let someone with Reimer’s potential go, as well as a LW like Chimera, but the Capitals are thrilled to have a player of Lehtonen’s calibre join the organization.  Kari is a proven goaltender capable of being one of the NHL's elite;  he may have had some injury problems in the past, but we believe those days are behind him.

Invalid as Washington would have gone further over the cap to approve this trade.  They are already over the cap.

The trade was agreed to a few weeks back before rosters were updated. Washington is under the cap when their buy outs come off in a week. Can't we just get this processed as it's only the matter of a week? The season is not active anymore.

Washington was over for almost the entire season, as were a few other teams.  I was not strict as I should have been.  No we can't bend the rules.  Try again in a week!
