Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Lightning & Devils trade
« on: August 06, 2014, 11:30:50 PM »
:TBL: sends
Teddy Purcell, $2.4m (2011-2014)  ... 2.3m (2014-2017)
2nd rd pick (from :EDM: , originally :CLS: )

:NJD: sends
Marian Gaborik, $7.5m (2013-2014) ... 2.7m (2014-2017)

Monetary exchange at even cap for end league year (2013-2014) *if necessary
Straight up trade (2014-2017) [no monetary exhanges]

Maybe I like Gaborik too much at 32yrs old, but i dismiss the down year last year as he torched thru the playoffs. LA resigned him to a long modest deal so they like him too.
I give up 4 years in age (Purcell), and a decent pick just acquired in the Mike Smith deal. I couldn't decide if i was giving up too much or not enough, but i wanted Gaborik and this was the asking price.

Im interested in what the league thinks about Gaborik?
Thanks for the talks Popp. :toth:

:NJD: to confirm

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Lightning & Redwings Trade
« on: August 05, 2014, 12:32:51 PM »
Lightning and Redwings agree to swap

To Tampa
LW Matt Calvert, $0.8m (2013-2015)
LW/RW Justin Abdelkader, $3.4m (2012-2015)

To Detroit
Mason Raymond, $3.0m (2012-15)
RW David Jones, $6.3m (2011-2015)
Round 3 - 2014 :TBL:

Tampa clears some cap here while not giving away too much production. In the end the scrappy Calvert could be the gem of the deal, however even if we miss on him the $5.1m cap gained will help with other moves. I really appreciate the activity of FNHL. Good knowledgeable GMs allows hockey novice types like myself a chance to complete a vision & build my team.

Thanks Izzy for the talks, Detroit to confirm
