Can we draft prospects and put them on our prospect team?
I think we should look at the cap hits for releasing players. I don't think it should be a 100% cap hit. What about players that retire, get injured and don't play anymore etc.. I think we should adopt the tiered system that is used in many other leagues. Like a 75% cap hit for first year, 50% hit for second year, and say a 25% for third year. With us getting our rosters we should have the options of at least having three free drops or something along those lines.
For the Contraction draft, how are we picking the draft positions? By randon simulation? or another method?
Can we trade any combination of players, picks and cash?
Also, do we use the real contracts of the people we draft?
And what about the contracts of the FAs after the draft, all those all off of bidding?
I was actually already thinking about the best way to do this. I don't really like the tiered system as it's just more work (I like simplicity, keeps my head on straight). I was thinking a flat reduction for everything after the year they are released. I definitely want to do something for retired players and long term IR. Let me get through the initial rosters and extensions then we'll dive into this.
Just as a suggestion, usually leagues will allow a couple of free drops with no cap hits. We can also build in a retirement clause to where you would only be responsible for 50% on the contract remaining. The contract could also be bought out if you have the cap space. I just feel like if we are responsible for 100% cap hits on releasing players there should be at least 3 free drops to start. We shouldn't penalize GM's for contracts they had no control over. Thanks for taking this into consideration.
