New GMs for Chicago (NL) and New York (NL)
« on: November 11, 2010, 01:26:59 PM »
Two big markets are hiring new GMs today.  Nearly everyone in the league has seen the openings, and I feel that everyone is happy with their teams.  If you would like to be considered for a future move, then please put yourself on the waiting list for such a team.

I would like to announce Kris Dougherty's return (KDoc09) as the new Cubs GM.  He managed the Giants for some time last year and early this year but didn't have the time to manage them for 6+ months.  He wanted to be back in the league and gave me a very good reason as to why I should consider him for the job.  He will be posting this message to the league.

Also, welcome and Joseph Jaquez (R.A. Dickey 43) as the new Mets GM.  Joseph, please read over all of the rules and consider the scoring system, contracts, and eligibility constraints when you make moves.  Please post any questions that you may have.  He is a Mets fan which is a bonus... he is new to ProFSL, so please try and help him out as much as possible with the way we do things around here.  We are not in the middle of the season, so he isn't on a two-week hard probation, but a soft probation will prevail in which his moves will have to approved by the Commissioner.

To all league members;

As Colby stated earlier, I have definite reasons for wanting to come back; in fact, I was sad to have left in the first place. I very much enjoyed the league, the people in it and the sense of community you guys have fostered here, and soon after I left, I was itching to return. Unfortunately, I was forced to leave the league due the overwhelming number of responsibilities that I had earlier this year (work, school, etc.) and I made the tough decision to leave the Giants behind rather than be an absentee owner. I felt that I owed it to the league to be as engaged and active as I could, and when it became apparent I wasn't going to be able to fulfill my duties as I promised when I initially took over the Giants, I decided it was best to step aside and let someone else take over, rather than allow the Giants to wallow. The integrity of the league was my first thought, and I made my decision in accordance with that. During my time here, I felt that I did an excellent job of preparing the Giants; both in the present and for the future, by making smart moves and being a fair trading partner, and I have no doubt that I can do the same with Cubs, given some time. In fact, I believe that I can do an even better job with the Cubs than I did with the Giants, now that I am familiar with the workings of the league, and given the additional resources running a large market club will provide. Also, to assuage any concerns that I may up and leave the league again, my life is considerably less intense than it was a few months back. While I still have work and school, a distracting, time-consuming,  and unfortunate personal living situation is no longer present in my life. This situation was one that was a great drain on my time, and it took a mental and emotional toll on me, and I can happily say that it is no longer an issue. I am prepared to re-invest myself in the league with a renewed sense of vigor, and I am sure it will be apparent to all of you almost immediately.

I hope that I have explained myself and the situation in a satisfactory manner, however, if anyone has any questions regarding anything, please do not hesitate to contact me; I would be more than happy to explain myself further should any of you feel the need for me to do so. Thank you for your time, thanks to Colby for giving me another opportunity, and thanks to all of you for allowing me to once again be a part of this league, and this fantasy community.

Kris

Yes and no.... it is a soft probationary period in the off-season.  All moves must be approved by the Commissioner.

I didn't know if that was for both the new GMs or just for the new Mets GM.  Thanks for the clarification.
