Jonathon, I wish you luck... I'm the GM of the Edmonton Oilers and I feel I've done a very nice job turning them around in one season... you can do it!

If you're looking for a trade partner, I'm always up for negotiations, take a look at my roster and PM me!

Edmonton, you have definitely put together a nice looking team! You've got a good number of valuable players at this stage of your rebuilding effort however I would venture to guess you stepped into the GM role with some great young talent still laying around.

St.Louis is currently missing half their roster for one reason or another and it appears some of their best core NHL roster players are gone except for Halak.

Actually, now that I reflect on the start of my tenure are Ottawa's Owner/GM I would have to say Ottawa was in better shape than St.Louis is today.

When I took over and there were great players to trade and help me rebuild the team the way I wanted. We've moved Bieksa, Fisher, Peverley, Latendresse, Tanguay, Clemmensen, Neil, Alfredsson, Spezza, Phaneuf, all great players in their own right but they either didn't fit into my team's philosophy, salary structure, contract structure, player style or age group.

Today, we have a core of Mike Richards, Andrew Ladd, Jamie Benn, Dan Boyle, Kristian Huselius, Brad Boyes, Andrei Markov, Brian Gionta.

Our youth movement is led by the likes of Casey Wellman (MIN), Andrew Desjardins (SJ), Drayson Bowman (CAR), Jerome Samson (CAR), Bobby Butler (OTT), Erik Condra (OTT), Ian Cole (STL), Dmitry Orlov (WSH).

Our Farm system never looked better with 11 of our 12 prospects being NHL bound within 1-2 seasons.

And finally we have two 1st Round picks, three 2nd Round draft picks to truly build up our prospect depth.

Ottawa is definitely not done reshaping the team and the off season will be an interesting one for sure with Free agency being a great time to go shopping for this organization.

I traded away Taylor Hall for a king's ransom to the Flyers... that was the trade that set me up for where I am today... I also packaged Ales Hemsky with 2 draft picks and a defensive prospect to get Zetterberg & Hudler - 2 guys who have flex positions.

You're right, if you have one or two good players, you can make a few trades and turn things around rather quickly!

St. Louis isn't looking horrible. Not great for this season but they do have:
Patrick Berglund, $6.0m (2014-2015)
David Perron, $2.2m (2011-2012)
Evander Kane, $3.1m (2011-2012)
Gabriel Landeskog, $3.0m (2013-2014)
Erik Johnson, $2.6m (2011-2012)
Jaroslav Halak, $3.8m (2013-2014)
C - Jaden Schwartz, N/C, (0 Games)
C - Charlie Coyle, N/C, (0 Games)
D - Stuart Percy, N/C, (0 Games)
G - Jake Allen, N/C, (0 Games)

and going to have tons of crap room in the off-season to go after some players, these players are musts to be re-signed though or they will be in big trouble for the future instead of just this season.

Edmonton's trade with Philly was a good trade looking back on it now but I still wouldn't trade a cheap (3m) 1st overall selection without getting a good return. Hartnell has lit it up this season which he didn't last year and Bob has gotten equal starts and we didn't believe he would with Bryz signing that deal. I would say the Hemsky deal was your biggest deal for ya.

:ANA: skaters are doing well. I'll try to bring at least one starter goalie to compete next season.

Skaters only score
w19 Ducks 88.7 - Flames 70.6

Look at :STL-NHL: and tell me you can rebuild in 1 year and :ANA: is probably in a worse position, somehow. I understand :STL-NHL: , they suck in real life, but :ANA: is good.  Somebody drained that team bad. So, yes you can in 1 year, if you find a really bad GM and drain their team. Actually, someone drained my team too, best two players are absent from my team (pietrangelo, backes) I do have something that should at least help me and that is money. With contracts ending this year and current cap space, I will have 43M to work with

I think I can say my rebuild is complete after a trade I pulled off last night...

It started a week or so ago when I traded Hartnell for Milan Michalek & a 1st round draft pick.

Last night I turned around and packaged both my 1st round picks and Devan Dubnyk for Carey Price - giving me one of the premiere starting goalies in the league. That was the one thing keeping me from competing for the cup, but now I think I can do some damage come playoff time.

So, if Edmonton is any point of reference, I rebuilt them in about 8 months. But like it was stated before, I had a good young piece to move (Taylor Hall), and that set this whole thing up.

Kudos to you Edmonton! A very nice rebuilding project with a number of good to great trades to put yourself in a position to compete for the championship.

Now I'll have to go an analyze your moves to see which teams and players I should work with.

That was an awesome trade between Oilers and the Canadiens. I did a similar deal earlier in the season to land Jakob Markstrom and a veteran in Dwayne Roloson. I do think Devan is going to be a starter next season and just look at the super star studded team that will play in front of him with Taylor Hall, RNH, Jordan Eberle, Sam Gagner. That's some serious fire power in Edmonton. What's not to like?!

  • Brent: And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet.  Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.

  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.

  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...
  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect
    Today at 12:56:05 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.

  • Brent: I am glad I cut back on leagues, I was spread too thin.
  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Today at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Today at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Today at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL
    Today at 02:10:04 PM

  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Today at 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
  • Alpha5: Guarantee I know who he traded Kamara to for 1-7 without even looking
    Today at 05:22:42 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: alpha it was a good trade at the time
    Today at 05:29:49 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: my team was in the Crapter at that pt
    Today at 05:29:58 PM
  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
  • Daddy: Then beat me in the NFC Title game.
  • Daddy: RB is a hard position to nail down. If someone wants to trade me 1-7 for Kamara. Step right up.
