Franchise NHL / Re: RULE INTRODUCED: Cannot BO & Draft a Drafted Player
« on: January 17, 2021, 12:50:28 PM »
This new rule is to prevent circumventing the cap hit attributed to a top prospect.
In the past 2 seasons, we have seen teams dropping or Buying out a top prospect with a pricy ELC only to draft them in the Supplemental or Special Round 5 portion of the Entry Draft.

Rule Introduced January 5, 2021: Teams prohibited from Releasing or Buying out a MiLR player, player on ELC only to draft them in the Supplemental, Entry or Special Round 5 portion of the Entry Draft.

Example: Jack Hughes selected #1 overall should earn a $3.0M ELC but was bought out and drafted during the 2020 FNHL Supplemental Draft and will be signed to a league minimum of $0.7M - as of today, this practice will not be allowed as Hughes deserves his $3M ELC contract and this circumvents a sizeable cap hit the drafting team should accept.

Moving forward as of today January 5, 2021, this practice will not be allowed. :judge:

Good Rule change

The Rd 5 pick for Seattle :SEA-NHL: - is that treated like an entry draft pick or like a supplemental pick as with the Division winners? I want to make sure I've got the right prospects lined up. LMK Thanks.

Yes

Franchise NHL / Re: NHL 20/21 season start date?
« on: December 02, 2020, 04:50:52 PM »
Seems the talks between NHL and NHLPA have been holding things up for the hockey world.
I'm guessing the PA wants to get the NHL to give players an opt out of play while the NHL probably doesn't want to allow it.

The NBA has an interesting setup but they only have 1 Canadian team to contend with. The NHL will have a tough time getting things started in January if they don't come to an agreement with the PA by mid-December.

Agreed; let’s hope they reach agreement quickly for the fans.

I say they drop the puck to start the regular season on January 18, 2021.
It should be January 11th but there will be positive COVID tests early on during training camp leading to slowdown/shutdowns for several days/wks in December.

That's my guess.

I follow that logic; good as guess as I would have.

I am noticing this looks like an A B conversation so I’m going to C my way out. So sorry to interrupt

Franchise NHL / Re: FNHL History - Stories
« on: November 13, 2020, 09:49:03 PM »
My story isn't directly about FNHL but about my BY experience. Still involves FNHL indirectly.

I think I was in BY for all of a week or 2 when I first joined Profsl. I didn't reply to a PM for 5-7 days and got kicked out by Drew for not being active enough for his precious BY. You could tell the guy had too much time and no family, definitely no kids or a house. All I could do was laugh. My guess is the guy actually created spawn now and understand he was premature with his decision. From what I hear he disappears for stretches now. Karma.:thumbsup:

How does this indirectly involve FNHL?

Well, all I can say is after that regrettable encounter with Drew, I appreciate how professional and mature PR & PPG are in this league. People seem to get it here. Play hard but relax and don't let stuff wind you up.

Then seeing how Drew used commish privileges to retroactively adjust his lineup numerous times to win matchups just made a lot of us question those FNHL champions. It did for me. Maybe that huge Anton Forsberg BO cap hit is bad karma slapping the face of that Minnesota Wild franchise.

That’s some laundry

You know I'm just adding my version of Antman to this thread right. But I have to say Indians ripped my heart out when he traded away Sebastian Aho, Nikita Gusev AND Johnny Gaudreau from my heavily scouted former San Jose Sharks franchise. At least Rock On has worked on rebuilding the minors over there.

Feels like a separate unique perspective entirely. I’d just call it a Burkeeee

I think we both value prospects so I could see how that might be viewed as wreckless management.

AntMan's bullying me again MOM!:rofl: We are all watching you continually assembling the best young roster. So we don't feel bad for your Colorado Avalanche. Not one bit. But I have to say it'll be tougher without the assistance of Indians. Some of us still talk about how the Avs were gifted Cayden Primeau.  :puke::puke::thumbsup:

I’m happy to discuss this because I think there is a cluster of teams stuck on this one transaction and holding up trade conversations creating a Venn diagram or silo trade circles where we should be wide open but very few are in the overlap.

Let’s remember Cayden was the 29th best goalie spec at the time and hadn’t be regraded as some Price equivalent. Boston trades a Late supplemental to Indians for a first. Colorado then offered up a supplemental on the trade block having two left and we struck a deal with indians agreeing on two supplementals for Primeau. IMO at that time the first was worth the same or slightly more than Primeau so I had the lesser of the deals. There was a trade committee and I’d say they (yourself included) agreed at that moment demand and value was high on those supplemental picks. You just have to vote and move on and you must have agreed then.

Certainly no more of a gift than Binnington who’s actually producing in FNHL.  :puke:

Let’s also remember some trades go bad for Colorado and others also. Who deals for Beartschi giving up McAvoy.

Pick your poison in a league of sharks. That’s why we need parity rules so the big sharks get challenged. You’re the biggest shark right now BB. They’re going to come for you...

Com'on Ant! Don't give my Habs a hard time. We haven't played one another enough times to even develop a rivalry.

You’ll be ok w/o goalie compensation, you have a top team.

  • Brent: And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet.  Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.

  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.

  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...

  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.

  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool

  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.

  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).

  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.

  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen

  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning

  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them

  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide

  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.

  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
