We agree that it is too early to modify the 25% limit on cash exchanges after the vote we had just at the beginning of this season.
Anyway we support the introduction of a hard cap limit, as proposed by DynastyDeacon, to level out a bit more the competition. This is not a modification of the cash exchange rule but simply a new limit. We really think that the combination of a 25% limit on cash exchanges and a hard cap can address most of the concerns about the creation of superteams.

Regarding the 50% rule for extensions proposal, could you kindly explain it?

Meaning when extending a player, their new salary must be no less than 50% of what their current salary is even if their ranking puts them at an extension over 50% lower than their current salary

Please post anything here that we want to look at discussing for this upcoming off-season. Below is a compiled list of planned discussion points.

Discuss
1. Move end of season week earlier.
2. Make resigns of 1 year automatically hit FA the next off-season.
3. Introduce 50% rule for extensions
4. Look into introducing a hard cap (which is the salary of your team with no regard to cash exchanges)

Rule going into place
1. Remember that last season it was agreed to put a rule into place about going over cap in future seasons. As soon as this off season starts, any roster moves will have to keep you under cap in future seasons as well as the current seasons.

Spurs vote for:
1. OK. We are strong supporters of moving the Final at least one week before the end of the regular season, preferably two weeks
2. OK
3. OK
4. OK. We think that 130mn could be a reasonable hard cap

Cash exchanges make great GMs unbeatable and makes struggling teams the norm. Personally I don't see why 20 or so of you even play, knowing you have NO CHANCE at winning. I guess participating is big fun :taco: too.

My votes
#1 (I don't care) leave it.
#2 anyone not under contract at seasons end should be a FA.
#3 (I don't care) leave it.
#4 IS THE ONE THAT MATTERS (I've been doing this a lonnnnng time. Cash exchanges ruin competitive balance in every league I've ever seen it allowed).

Doesn't matter what the hard cap is. There needs to be a hard cap in place and minipulation of funds and the salary cap needs to stop immediately.

Or...what you have had is what you will have going forward.

Agree on all points.  Cash exchanges ruin leagues and this one has already lost at least 1 good GM b/c of it.

Have we ever discussed adjusting the NBA salary CAP annually to mirror real NBA?

No, we haven't. It's something that we could put to a discussion during this off-season to possibly go into effect next off-season.

If we were to change it, we would completely abolish paying on player's in trades. We would also need to update the extension prices with a higher salary cap. Especially when the current top extension ($30m) wouldn't even be a top 40 salary in the real NBA.

  • Daddy: Yeah so about that. One team get first pick in the expansion draft. The other gets first pick in the amateur draft.

  • Daddy: Honestly idk why the NBA doesn't do it that way for expanding. Two teams at a time. Expansion draft to amateur draft. I think the idea is fresh and its execution will be pretty dope. ;)
  • jimw: I think the NBA goes one team at a time to give the one team a better talent pool in the expansion draft and also to keep the teams from complaining about losing more players
    Today at 01:25:47 AM
  • Daddy: Thats fair
  • BayAreaBallers: that makes sense
  • Daddy: I mean they only losing one guy anyway tho. We expose 10 players, protect 5 players, each team, all 30 will lose one player.
  • Daddy: The expansion teams will then both have 15 players heading into the amateur draft with picks #1 & #2.
  • Daddy: Each other team will still have 14 players and one first round pick.
  • Daddy: They need to hire me is what they need to do
  • Daddy: Yeah you lose a guy to the expansion draft. Likely your 6th man. Then the very next day you draft his replacement and keep it moving.

  • jimw: I think in the Bobcat expansion each team could protect 8 players. And I think the bobcats has to take at least 14 so half the league didn't even lose a player.
