Week 8 - Power Rankngs (Yes Week 8 Already!)
« on: December 04, 2016, 06:46:14 PM »
We are onto week 8 already and some patterns are starting to emerge. Now is the time when teams have to go big or go home to change their fate. Others need to keep up their pace or the first 7 weeks could only be a mirage of what could have been.

1. :STL-NHL: (6-1) - The champs are continuing to roll and are the cream of the crop in league! Having Hellebuyck take over as a starter this season is also helping.

2. :VAN: (6-1) - This was my team at the start of the year and their 3 headed goalie monster are showing their fangs. Forwards are doing just enough to make sure their goalies can get the job done.

3. :CLG: (5-2) - Riding the Chad Johnson wave! Calgary is another team with 3 solid starting tenders and that means their forwards have to play just good to make them a tough team to play.

4. :CHI-NHL: (5-2) - Again is at the top of the league. Mason has returned to his former self but Lundqvist is still holding the Hawks up. Hawks continue to be consistently at the top of the league.

5. :TOR-NHL: (6-1) - Toronto is right up there with the big boys including a week 1 win over the mighty Blues! I felt like they should have been ranked higher but I just can't with the Fleury mystery looming over the Leafs. The quick that is resolved the better for the Leafs.

6. :DET-NHL: (5-2) - If Murray can completely take over the starting job in Pittsburgh then Detroit will catch fire. Crosby is leading the league in goals and fantasy points for forwards.

7. :DAL-NHL: (5-2) - Dallas has continued to build a great group after being in the basement of the league for years. Is this their time? The Stars will continue to ride the tandem of real Star tenders to put up quality numbers.

8. :NYR: (4-3) - The first major disappointment of the season thus far. Thought to be a major contender, Elliott has done not much in his new uni and the overall depth at forward hasn't done it. Can the Rangers turn it around?

9. :PIT-NHL: (4-3) - Allen and Gibson have been good but not great for Pittsburgh. Top end players have been top end but many other forwards haven't been great. Some minor shake ups and maybe the Pens can turn around the average performance so far.

10. :BOS-NHL: (3-4) - Lost Stamkos again!! I know it hurts Rob but Boston should still be doing better than their record. Some poor performances out of the skater group but with a little weeding out maybe the Bruins can salvage their season.

11. :LA: (4-3) - The skaters have been on point this season and having the leading scorer in McDavid is going to be a blessing for years. Getting a quality tender could bring LA to the next level but until then I can't see them doing more than what they are doing now.

12. :PHI-NHL: (3-4) - Walt where have you gone. Just kidding Dave there is really nothing more you could do. Overall everyone has been good but not great. The question Dave has to ask is what needs to happen to change the Flyers direction.

13. :EDM: (2-5) - Am I really this bad? Can someone be honest, do I need an intervention? Goalies are playing decent and forwards have been good. What do I need to do!!!

14. :MON-NHL: (2-5) - The goal-tending situation in Montreal isn't great. Pavelec has been exiled leaving only Bishop as their only tender. Le Canadiens will need be shaken awake or start their own exile to change their future.

15. :CLS: (2-5) - Price can't do it all but he sure is trying. When your top scorer is Wennberg something is a miss here. Columbus will need some more support for Price in net to step it up.

16. :ANA: (1-6) - Tyler what has happened! Quick being injured sure screwed things up for Anaheim but having only Bernier as backup doesn't help either. Quick comes back the Ducks rise but I can't forsee very far.

17. :WAS-NHL: (0-7) - The forward group has been one of the worst in the league and with only Martin Jones putting in start, Washington has gone from one of the most promising teams to a league bottom feeder.

18. :TBL: (0-7) - Rounding out the power rankings are the Lightning. The Lightning are doomed to remain at the bottom of the league until they address their goaltending position. Currently 2 NHL backups are manning the pipes with no upside prospects to look forward too.

Thanks for the patience guys and I will try to keep everything as up to date as possible. Remember no offense meant by the rankings, just my opinions.

I'm happy with my team considering all the injuries this year. Need to set my lineups everyday as well. That might help. Lol

Just not into the fanasty hockey like I used to. Might call it quits after the season but have said that the last two years.  :bla:

That is bad. The 2 worse teams played each other and neither got a win. On the bright side, its the first time either didn't take a loss

  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...

  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect
    Today at 12:56:05 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.
  • Brent: I am glad I cut back on leagues, I was spread too thin.
  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Today at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Today at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Today at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL
    Today at 02:10:04 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: jwalkerjr88 is right
  • BayAreaBallers: on that u havat trade a bit here and there
    Today at 02:25:57 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Today at 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
  • Alpha5: Guarantee I know who he traded Kamara to for 1-7 without even looking
    Today at 05:22:42 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: alpha it was a good trade at the time
    Today at 05:29:49 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: my team was in the Crapter at that pt
    Today at 05:29:58 PM
  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
  • Daddy: Then beat me in the NFC Title game.
  • Daddy: RB is a hard position to nail down. If someone wants to trade me 1-7 for Kamara. Step right up.
  • BayAreaBallers: I gotta see what I did
    Today at 06:05:04 PM
