Boo for the same reasons as stated in Weekly lineups.  Stream starts...its a certain strategy to level the imbalance between pitching and hitters.  Again...why not eliminate Pitchers?

The point is to be as realistic a reflection of MLB as possible...

The point is to be as realistic a reflection of MLB as possible...

Well that's not quite how it's set up.  To be as realistic as possible this league should have more weight on pitching.  Unfortunately, spending money on pitchers is now a complete waste.  Hitters dominate this game and it's not a realistic reflection of the MLB.

Furthermore, the drive to handicap pitchers is so strong, that the league voted against limiting pitchers and here we are basically voting on it again.  Oh wait...we changed one word in this new operative question on how to limit value of pitchers.  Having pitchers in our league merely confuses people into placing value on the position.

In the real MLB, I'd say pitchers and batters are at least equal in value.  Possibly pitchers are more valued in the true MLB.  So please refrain from telling yourself that in this scenario we are like the real MLB.  I've constantly fought handicapping pitchers and it's just a waste.  I would seriously entertain the idea of removing pitchers from the league, as the value of pitchers is merely now a mirage.  Can I have a second by anyone who appreciates pitching?

Chris, I value your opinion, but there has been plenty of research given to this topic.  What you are missing in all of this is defense.  The value of the defensive field plus the pitcher is greater than that of the batter.  However, the defensive stats are shown with the position players, so their value is bumped up much higher.

so if we remove defense pitchers = batters?

No, he said pitching + defense = hitting... however batters get both defense + hitting points.

With defense removed, the batters have a slight edge on the pitchers (see the rules on the ratios)... but defense is not being removed.

And why is it good for pitchers to be weighted so little compared to position players?
