I should clarify not to drop it this season but the following season.
leave it the same!!! Roll it back I have soo much cap space just kiddinI am sure we will see a drop but wait and see what the number will be then adjust accordingly. It would be very unfair to a lot of GM who planned this seassonj on 1 huge cap number only to see it drop by 20M
Yeah, it won't be until later but I think it's useful to talk about now.Plus I get that some GMs initial plan for certain amounts of cap space. That's why I like a % based rollback on contracts and extensions, because the % of cap space teams have now will still be the % they have after a rollback.I'm glad the most frugal team in the league is so concerned about the cap, maybe you should worried about a salary floor Bean. lol
curious what we are going to do with the cap?
Did we ever figure out what we are doing about this? It might affect some teams going into the trade deadline.
I think we should keep our projected 13/14 salary cap and adjust for the new CBA for the 14/15 season. Our cap has always been tied to the real salary cap and since this years is essentially unaffected by the CBA (teams can still spend the prorated cap that was announced pre-lockout), our cap for next season should probably also be unaffected. This will give teams more time to adjust to the cap decrease. Here's my cap projections for the next couple years:12/13 - $75.8m13/14 - $82.8m14/15 - $75.8mThis is scaled directly from the NHL cap, which looks like this:11/12 - $64.3m12/13 - $70.2m (pro-rated)13/14 - $64.3mWe always lag a year behind the actual league, as do our extension values (which I haven't updated yet). Now, assuming everyone agrees to this structure (and I am open to your input) do we want to include amnesty buyouts like the NHL did prior to our 14/15 season? We have more time to adjust, unlike the actual league. So I'm not sure if it's necessary or not. I think if we do buyouts we should only do 1 each since we get the extra year to adjust. They should also only be allowed at the end of the 13/14 season.Thoughts?
So 64.3 is out hard line cap for the start of next season, correct?Just want to make sure looking into extensions etc.Do we have an ext deadline? sorry cant remember!!
