So all players on the minor league rosters that teams inherited are listed as rookie contracts that haven't started. Even though some of these guys in real life only have a year or two left on their ELC. Examples would be Boris Katchouk on Tampa's roster. He is listed as a 1 year 833,333 contract in real life and then an RFA. In this league though he is listed as a rookie contract in tampa bays minors and his 3 year clock hasn't started.
On my team I have Gerald Mayhew in my minors listed as a rookie 0.7m contract. But in real life he is on a 0.7m contract that ends after this year and is then a UFA. He has played in 13 NHL games.
Now look at Nashville's roster and see Eeli Tolvanen. He is listed as a 0.9m contract that ends this year and is then an RFA. He has 7 NHL games played.
Not sure why Mayhew and Katchouk would be on full rookie contracts when Tolvanen is on one that ends this year and is the same situation.
Seems like all players who have never played more then 30 NHL games should all start the league as full rookie contracts. Whether they were drafted in the rookie draft, contraction draft or inherited with your intial team roster.
