Chicago and Montreal make a trade
« on: February 06, 2015, 02:01:52 AM »
Chicago trades
Kari Ramo, $3.3m (2014-15)
Michael Hutchinson, $0.5m (2016-17)
:CHI-NHL: Round 1

to Montreal for
Cory Schneider, $3.6m (2016-17)
:MON-NHL: Round 4

Been wanting Schneider for a while and got him. He will help me this year for another chance at the cup.  :toast:

Hutchinson and a 1st will go a long way towards fixing Montreal. Ramo for a 4th seems fair for back ups nowadays.

Chicago just brought itself back into scary territory. No wonder they have won three straight championships.

Hutchinson has played a total of 27 games....not enough to even know if he has staying power as a back-up. Winnipeg may yet trade for a starter. Ramo, on the other hand, is a UFA at the end of the year and for all I know may not even land in the NHL.

This is a quote from Dobber

I really do think Ortio is better than these other two goalies. That is based on limited viewing of Ortio but more so from having seen enough from both Hiller and Ramo to say that neither one is an above-average NHL starter. I do, however, think that Ortio can be.

I would like to see the deal include Joni Ortio (who Tony is shrewdly holding back) in place of the 1st. I am sorry but Hutch and Ramo do not equal Schneider and the differential in the picks doesn't make up the difference.

Seriously man. Your saying this is a veto? give me a break. I know Hutchinson is only 27 games in but he is great and his numbers match Schneider.

Seriously, I think Schneider is worth more than the offer. What I wrote is neither veto or approval Tony, it is my opinion. Something I believe I am entitled to.

(BTW Scott Darlings number are superior to Schneider but I wouldn't think that a fair trade either. Again, my opinion.)

I definitely think Tony wins in this deal, but it isn't veto-able.  Hutch does not have a huge sample size, but from everything everyone has seen, he is the real deal.  Ramo is more of a throw in as I view it, but someone who could steal some starts.  The 1st is a nice pick up as well.

Again, it's a win for Tony, but it's not enough for a veto from me.

Don't know exactly what to think of this one. Schneider is young and locked into a starter position where are Ramo is a huge question mark and although Hutchingsons numbers are good, he is locked in a time share. The first doesn't really affect the trade, it will be a 10-18 pick so mid first which is a gamble and luck rather than a sure thing.

So what I feel is that Montreal is giving away a young starter that is locked in for many years so a lot of what ifs and maybes.

Eric for right now we have a full TC who votes on the trades. Please refrain for now from voting on trades so I can properly count votes if needed.
