Sorry I didn't answer this in time, but you are allowed to make changes to this years roster while the 15/16 calendar is still active whether you're in the playoffs or not.

Are we allowed to do extensions for players 2016-2017?

Yes, you can extend at any time.  However if you're extending while the player is still under contract, the new contract cannot be shorter or less money than the existing contract.
