the good news is FNHL Owned Teams have winning records after 2 wks.

That bodes well for potential new owners stepping in.

:CLG: 2-0
:EDM: 2-0
:WIN: 1-1
:DET-NHL: 1-1 (wk1 loss was due to previous inactive owner not setting line-up all wk)

even the :VAN: which features a new owner since the start of the season is staying competitive this season at 1-1.

if i wanted to loosely associate bits of info... i would probably say that ...

in the Division that Drew's former team :MIN-NHL: competes in we can note these points of interest:

FNHL NorthWest

:CLG: is FNHL owned after Sportsdoc55 departure
:EDM: is FNHL owned " SizzRat "
:COL-NHL: upset Drew vetoed their trade proposal + since tanked WK2 (we'll address that matter)
:VAN: features a new knowledgeable, highly active owner after Corey stepped down leaving a roster of 15/30 spots (today they have 27/30 roster spots filled)

not letting unowned teams sit passively managed while awaiting a dedicated owner(s)... that would be viewed as healthy competition in most leagues + the right thing to do in a rehabilitating league that needed some stricter rule enforcement + entry requirements.

I'd hardly attribute those wins to great hockey knowledge, 3 out of those 4 wins were against teams w/illegal rosters, days they accrued no points, as a matter of fact, Calgary won week 1 with a score of 86.7 - 0.

the good news is FNHL Owned Teams have winning records after 2 wks.

That bodes well for potential new owners stepping in.

pt taken, winter.

however the pt to be made is about unowned teams remaining competitive, thus more attractive to a new owner who is considering joining the league.

no one wants a dynasty team in the hole, lacking assets + looking neglected.

Wrong, you should be setting roster only, not trading with your influence as to your liking to suit the team, outside of setting roster I believe if for anything ethics involved should prohibit that. It has nothing to do with being competitive or attractive to a new owner, the direction of the team should be taken by the new team owner as to his liking, not yours. Setting a roster should be your sole obligation.

Sounds like you're calling someone unethical.

If anything this league has been very well run from my point of view. The commissioners have been on the ball since the new duo took charge last summer.

That said I trust what's being done to improve the teams and the league. It's clearly in better shape now than anytime since I joined in 2011.

...

i feel this is a shades of grey kinda deal.
there'll always be 1 side that's not happy with what's being actioned - or not.

do you believe un-owned teams with pending key UFA's (like goalies or stud fwds) would want the league to step in to automatically resign their players instead of letting them walk? it starts to look bad for the league, commish and makes the other ppl feel the league is somewhat neglected when that happens.

here's what happens when commissioners only set line-ups:
vacant teams lose key UFAs
vacant teams don't / can't complete/bid on avail key UFAs
owned teams get "richer"
vacant teams get "poorer"
league is polarized
league faces contraction or folds.

... :(

*i'm working to recruit strong owners + keep the ones who are dedicated to growing this league (just look at the owners list on the homepage and see who's new for 2012-13).
*guys who are fantasy gamers and wanna win!
*i'm not simply looking to fill opens with joeblow from the waiting list because that's proven to be painful for a variety of profsl leagues.

:iatp:

I'm fine with how the unowned teams are being managed as long as they don't trade with Florida or PHX.

Whoa when did this turn into a soccer mom's porn discussion?

It is decided,  in order to bid on players you need to let some old dude tie you up and whip you while a midget rides on your back and stuff a rubber chicken in your mouth.

My assumption is it looks something like this.

  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    May 17, 2024, 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
    May 17, 2024, 02:09:02 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • BayAreaBallers: jwalkerjr88 is right
    May 17, 2024, 02:25:49 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: on that u havat trade a bit here and there
    May 17, 2024, 02:25:57 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    May 17, 2024, 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
    May 17, 2024, 02:36:56 PM
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
    May 17, 2024, 02:38:21 PM
  • Brent: postured
    May 17, 2024, 02:38:35 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    May 17, 2024, 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    May 17, 2024, 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    May 17, 2024, 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
    May 17, 2024, 03:14:50 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    May 17, 2024, 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
    May 17, 2024, 03:48:17 PM
  • Alpha5: Guarantee I know who he traded Kamara to for 1-7 without even looking
    May 17, 2024, 05:22:42 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: alpha it was a good trade at the time
    May 17, 2024, 05:29:49 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: my team was in the Crapter at that pt
    May 17, 2024, 05:29:58 PM
  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
    May 17, 2024, 05:36:34 PM
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
    May 17, 2024, 05:53:04 PM
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
    May 17, 2024, 05:54:10 PM
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
    May 17, 2024, 05:54:46 PM
  • Daddy: Then beat me in the NFC Title game.
    May 17, 2024, 05:55:32 PM
