I have a extreme personal issues going on in my life right now. In spite of all the problems, I tried to make appropriate moves. Fantasy hockey is the least important item on my plate. I would like to remain manager but cannot devote my time to it right now. If you understand and can decipher the moves and allow them Detroit will still have a strong team. Ultimately its up to Drew. If he wishes me to vacate my position I will. It is a challenge and a huge learning curve for me, probably the oldest in the league. Good Luck to all and Thanks
I'm sure we could find a temporary GM for you team. You have somebody in mind?
Detroit sends Smith down to minors. Signs Niemmi to 8 mil contract. Signs Hodgson to a 3.2 mil contract Signs Shattenkirk to a 3.8 mil contract.
Seems to me there was an honest attempt to extend Niemi prior to the deadline. Given that Niemi is of vital importance to the Detroit Franchise and that unforeseen life-altering events (and fires) do happen I would hope to see some leniency here. My proposal is that Drew take temporary control of Detroit and make executive decisions retro-actively for the good of both the Franchise and the League. This would seem most reasonable until a suitable temporary or permanent replacement GM can be found.
I understand where you are coming from but Detroit does not have enough cap to sign him anyways. He used his cap space to sign Niklas Backstrom and Ray Emery.I hate the Cap.
I haven't looked at it closely enough but sending both Hodgson and Smith to the minors would free up significant room for a couple of buy-outs. Obviously keeping Shattenkirk is a lower priority than Niemi. My point is that an exhaustive effort should be made regardless of the deadline. Otherwise, if it doesn't work, that's fine. Just don't hold to the deadline.
Niemi will be resigned by Detroit to a 1 year deal. I will post exactly what will be done to help Detroit out. Unfortunately since I am taking control of this situation/roster, I will not allow Hodgson to sit in the minors with a 3m+ contract. I will do my best tomorrow to get all rosters up to date as well as roll over the cap spaces.
Detroit does not have the cap space to sign Niemi?
