Who's the Worst Contract on Your Team?

Every team has one...the shark in a sea full of cute kittens, preying on your team's salary cap constantly...he's your WORST CONTRACT.  Let's hear who you have:

With my new team, I've been pretty good at not taking on dumb or huge contracts, but I'd have to say signing Greg Zaun for $4m (2010) would be my slap in the face for 2010.

With my last team (Angels), for some reason, I thought Dan Runzler deserved $5m for the next two seasons, making him the 12th highest paid reliever according to Colb's rankings.  So I managed to waste away, in total, roughly $14m over 2010-2011 (though I'm free of Runzler's abomination now).

Of course, this is of this writing...I'm bound to sign a stinker here in the near future.

So who's your worst contract?

I gave $15m over three years to Ryan Garko in the off-season.  I released his crapness just over a week ago.  I spent nearly the entire off-season trying to clean up Jim "Donuts" Hendry's mess.  It involved bringing on other big contracts and not playing a role in FA.  I have A-Rod on my team now, but at least the guy contributes in a big way.  I now have a lot of money clearing for next year.

Toss-up


1) I was able to trade Derek Lowe which was something like 15.5mil (2012) however I am stuck paying 14mil of it this yr., but hey I'm freed from long term obligations and I got something back.

2) Eric Chavez $11mil (2010). This is a BIG stinker, but hey he is gone after this yr so it could be worse.

3) Javier Vazquez $11.5mil (2011). Ok this is a little different. Yes, it is a big contract, however he has pitched better lately and is actaully producing for my team and I got him as a part of an salary dump which I also some got some talent and once again its a 2010 contract so no long term obligations.

All-in-all, I'd have to say my worst contract is Eric Chavez considering he isnt playing right now and we he did, he didn't produce.

Definitely Casey Kotchman, I don't know what possessed me into thinking he deserved 22m over 4 years. Other than that, DeWitt was also a fairly risky contract, but hey I'm a believer in him and he has played far better than kotch.

BJ Ryan, which I took on to get Lind, and now he is my worst contract at 15.5 mil for this year. Kelly Shopvac was a horrible signing on my part. I thought it was 2007, but I was incorrect.
