ProFSL Scoring Service Discussion (3/31/12)

We will be testing out ProFSL's scoring service for the 2012 season. If it meets our needs better than Fantrax, we will switch over for the 2013 season. I will be PM'ing you individually your passwords to login (you will be able to change your passwords afterwards). Keep in mind we are officially using Fantrax for the 2012 season, so anything you want to have count should be done there.

The ProFSL scoring site is at http://www.profsl.com/leagues/baseball/armchairfb/

This thread will be used to discuss the possibility of switching to ProFSL for scoring. Keep in mind that the scoring site is a work in progress and is constantly undergoing improvements.

Please post your thoughts, questions and comments on using ProFSL scoring service for Armchair Fantasy Baseball. I will summarize my comments along with everybody else's in this post here.


REASONS FOR PROFSL:
- A single consolidated 30 team league, instead of two separate leagues. Everybody on the same page.
- Interleague play available
- Has site for mobile phone access.

REASONS FOR FANTRAX:
- Has a track record / history of uptime.
- Ability to create schedule automatically. Currently a bug on ProFSL.
- Ability to search for players
- Has LF / CF / RF breakdown instead of only OF (Corey says this will be implemented soon).
- Has defensive stats (Colby says this will be incorporated later on)

Wouldn't this be a dealbreaker for ProFSL in our league?

I haven't asked Colby about this yet. I plan on bringing all our comments to him together and see what he can do.

I would imagine that things like those listed above will eventually be included.  I would be glad to help load rosters , if you need. It would seem like you would need them all uploaded before we could really get a flavor for the profsl site.

I imagine it would eventually be included too, but this exercise will be helpful in consolidating a "requests list." If we don't ask for it, it may never come.

If you want to add people's rosters, that's fine. I've just been letting everybody add them on their own because it's not terribly important. PM me if you're still interested and I'll give you the commish password.

I went to add my players tonight and it said that several of them were not free agents?  Also, how do you search for a player?

The LF CF and RF will be coming extremely soon.

Had a similar problem yesterday. Not sure what happened yet.

Hi Kenny : Since you have sent me a "FollowUp", I will tell you that several
hours after our initial exchange of PM's about the ProFSL
scoring site, I manually inputted the URL into my Firefox
browser and the site started loading, but very slowly . It was
so slow, even with my DialUp connection and "old" OS, I went
and took a walk, that usually lasts about 10 minutes . When I
got back, I was able to "Login" using the provided password &
as your original PM mentioned, I changed the password to one
of my choosing. I browsed a little bit and when to my team's roster,
but seemed unable to do anything ( trying to input my players
into the "roster" ) . I went to another URL and didn't even
try to "Logoff" . That was several days ago and have not gone
back to see IF there is any improvement or is supposed to be any
"improvement" .
