FYI, possible World Series preview right now with the Yankees leading the way against the Brewers.

Yanks got off to a great start this week, will be a struggle to catch up.

[EDIT] looks like a ballgame now!

Quite a few duals going on between NYY and MIL, and CLE and STL, both coming down to the wire. The A's also opened up quite the can of whoop ass on the Twins. I guess when everything goes right this is what happens.

New #1 squad plus a lot of movement in the middle.  A couple teams such as the Dodgers and Marlins gain some respect...

Grades: [Batting, Pitching]

Week 10 Power Rankings
1) :MIL: - (9-0) [A/A] - Brewers have it all, and comparing defenses anymore is worthless (1)
2) :NYY: - (6-3) [A/A] - GASP!  I bumped the Yankees down to 2nd because their expensive pitching staff isn't being as productive as it could. (Plus Fister went down) (-1)
3) :OAK: - (7-2) [B/A] - Kendry out for the year, Dunn traded, A-Ram/backups weak, but then A's put up over 2000 points?!
4) :STL: - (8-1) [A/B-] - Smart money moves by Paul with the June 1st deals.  He tops it off by landing Agon.
5) :LAD: - (7-2) [A-/B+] - I underminded the Dodgers' pitching, very solid in the rotation and pen. (4)
6) :PHI: - (5-4) [B+/A-] - Phils shed some contracts for next year and bolster depth and pen (-1)
7) :TOR: - (7-2) [A-/B-] - Blue Jays new mantra: Silent but deadly
8) :BOS: - (7-2) [A-/B-] -
9) :LAA: - (6-3) [A-/C+] - Loss of Lee actually helps current production. (-3)
10) :CLE: - (5-4) [B+/B-] - Picking up Peavy was huge. (2)
11) :DET: - (5-4) [B/B](2)
12) :CIN: - (6-3) [A/C] - Not sure where Reds go with recent deals.  Offense looks like top five now… (-2)
13) :TEX: - (5-4) [B+/B-] - One of the best bullpens in the majors. (-2)
14) :ATL: - (6-3) [B-/B] - Very young team with a high ceiling. (2)
15) :CHW: - (5-4) [B/C] - Pitching staff is achilles heel. (-1)
16) :CHC: - (3-6) [B/C](2)
17) :TB: - (2-7) [C+/C] - Shattered offense, young pitching, built up farm, stars to build around for next year (-2)
18) :MIN: - (2-7) [C/B](1)
19) :SF: - (3-6) [C/D](1)
20) :NYM: - (5-4) [F/B] - Mets' two-headed SP monster is all they have. (3)
21) :HOU: - (4-5) [D/C+](1)
22) :COL: - (4-5) [C+/F] - Rockies are certainly building for next year. (-5)
23) :FL: - (2-7) [D/C+] - Surprise, surprise, weapons are there to compete for 0.500. (4)
24) :SEA: - (4-5) [D/C](-3)
25) :PIT: - (2-7) [C/D] - The impossible task is ranking my own team.  Cecil acquisition certainly helps though.  Lee should pan out at a later time. (1)
26) :ARZ: - (3-6) [F/B] - Omar's golden aces and cruddy bats, Q? what will he do with the talent? (-2)
27) :KC: - (2-7) [D/D](-2)
28) :WAS: - (2-7) [F/D] - Ike Davis is a gem of an acquisition.
29) :BAL: - (2-7) [F/D] - Landing Morales is huge for next year.
30) :SD: - (1-8) [F/F] - 2010 season was already over before AG was traded away.

I deserve the bump in ranking (perhaps even more) after losing three straight and having inconsistent pitching (and hitting).

Thanks for the respect in the rankings... if I stay 0.500 this year, it doesn't bomb my team's cap in future years as much as a finish near the bottom.  All the pieces are in place to make it a 5-team race (6 if Astros jump in) in the NL Central next year.

Thats my goal also. I would love to be able to throw this year out the window and really gear up for next yr, but I'm afraid of the consequences. Besides I can't give the Phillies a free pass.

I think I might have beaten the Mets with batting this week, but the pitching staff is so barren that I couldn't keep up.  The good news, I may be .500 next year and maybe I wont finish dead last this year, big maybe.

  • indiansnation: 2:15PM: The Dodgers announced this afternoon that they’ve placed right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list with triceps tightness. The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.

  • indiansnation: Mookie Betts was hit on the left hand by a Dan Altavilla fastball today, causing Betts to drop to the ground in immediate pain and then leave the game.  Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters (including Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times) after the game that Betts has a fractured bone in the hand and will be out of action “for some time,” though the former AL MVP won’t require surgery.
