Given that we have a whole offseason ahead of us, I wanted to go ahead and talk about some other issues that were brought up in the contraction discussion. The max contract of 10m seems to be obsolete and unnecessary. Regardless of what happens with contraction, I think this needs to be addressed. In the past it's just been whoever is first to bid wins the player (ex.
http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=364425.0). However by getting rid of this rule, this opens the door for a team to offer a ridiculous contract for a single year then resign them at a fraction of the price the following year.
With those two things in mind, I'm proposing the following -
1. Remove the $10m max salary
2. Introduce new contract minimums for more expensive contracts
3. Revaluate the extension values to resemble a more balanced scale based on today's contracts (and then adjusted for a 20 or 18 person league)
