Cubs trade:
OF Martin, Leonys, $0.5m (2019)

Giants trade:
SP Paxton, James, $2.5m (2020)
X-SP Paxton, James, Cash Exchange, $2.0m In 2018

Cubs agree to the trade. Martin is looking really good healthy again and leading off for the Tigers, but I have tons of OF. Paxton can't seem to put together a full season for the life of him, but can be very good when he's healthy so I'm willing to take the risk on him. Maybe him and Otani can make a full starter's worth of IP. And I'm not at all happy with my depth at SP so I think this is a win-win. Thanks for the smooth negotiations Flash.

Giants are in need of a regular, productive OF, and hopefully, Leonys Martin will continue his resurgence and plug a hole in the lineup.  Tough to give up James Paxton, who can be dominant when healthy, but his health was a factor in parting with his services, and hopefully, Kendall Graveman can wake up and fill the void.

I particularly don't like the trade. I think it's trash. However, there is no collusion occurring here, and every GM should have the right to design their team how they see fit.
