So this trade goes or not? Does it affect the Hanley trade?

You have to be under or at the cap when making moves. You are on the hook for the 12 mil for Jason Bay. This trade now makes that bid illegal if it is processed. Therefore it cannot be processed, unless you clear 2.5 mil, or someone outbids you on Jason Bay. You don't have the money to do both. Unless you want to drop 5 guys with prospect contracts. That is your prerogative. That was one (among others) of the reasons why the Hanley to Boston trade didn't go through.

Dan I would interpret the rules as the trade can go through as long as it would not put him over the cap - since the Bay bid was at the time not yet final, it shouldn't be included in his current cap space and the trade would be legal.  If after the trade goes through and the Bay bid becomes final, then the 24 hour rule would kick in and he'd be forced to make room or face the penalty.

With a rule now in place for handling invalid bids due to cap room, I don't think we want to count open bids against the cap when evaluating trades... my two cents.

your deal with ramirez was canceled  because you where trying to give cash with nothing to give cash for. You have to have cash for  draft pick  bonus or contracts  your giving

well thats new to me...a) i dont see it in the rules b) if it is hidden in the rules somewhere, it wasn't expressed to me when it was put in the invalid box, when it was put in the invalid, dan said it could not happen because of my pending free agent bid, which if i read correctly just went through a rule switch

Your trade wasn't accepted because

A. The players that you were sending were not up to par with what you were getting.

B. You are not allowed to send money, unless it is attached to a salary or bonuses for a draft pick.

If you read the entire posting for your trade. Myself, Colby, the TC, the RC, plus several other member of this league who PMd me about the trade, and it's unfairness, would not allow the trade to go through. Colby and myself suggested you and Hank go back to the drawing board. Hank I guess got a better offer.

If this was in reference to my post, I was only offering my opinion as to how we should interpret the rules.  This league is complex and yet still young, so there are many situations that are not specifically defined within the rules.  For this reason, we have a RC responsible for creating and interpreting rules and maintaining the fairness of the league as it evolves.

All owners are encouraged to offer their thoughts on the rules, so if you have any specific concerns please do so and we'll do our best to address them - either with an explanation for the current rule, or a new rule when appropriate.

I have a bias to accept this deal as it would enable a deal between me and the Tigers.  Therefore, my vote would not count.  However, I do think this is a huge, but very fair deal considering the level of talent (prospect and veteran) on both ends.

I just wanted to get to the SB and figured at that point anything can happen and lucky for me, my boys had enough left to take out BAB. Live is the most challenging league I’m in and most fun, so thanks for what you all do to make it that way.

  • Brent: Agreed.  I'm decent at building, but I need to get better st winning.  I did win an offsite 32-team football league, it only took me 1.5 season to rebuild and win.
