Old Trading Blocks
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:00:14 PM »
Hi to all, call me Sammy I am the new owner of the Red Sox.

CI. Mike Lowell 12.5m (2010)
OF. J.D Drew 14m (2011)
UT. David Ortiz 13m (2010)
P. Brad Penny 5m (2012)
P Junichi Tazawa 1m (2011)
P Daisuke Matzusaka 9m (2012)

I am looking for replacements at these positions...and less expensive. Some of these guys I invision will be targeted by people who are vying for the championship this year. I think my team needs work, therefore I want to clear some older high paid veterans who are still productive.

David Ortiz has lost 15 pounds, says Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. Ortiz is trying to bounce back from a season where he batted just .222/.317/.416 before the All-Star break. The team holds a $12.5 million club option for 2011, so Big Papi is fighting to keep his job. The 34 year old had a nagging shoulder injury that caused him not to play first base in the World Baseball Classic this past March, an injury that has reportedly cleared up.

Straight from Fantrax. Some incentive to acquire David Ortiz...he'll work for that contact this year, and even if he does the Sox may not want to pick his 11m up next year, after all he is 34.

The Pirates would take on J.D. Drew if the Red Sox can carry part of that contract.

Ok we can talk about this...would it simply be money? or could there be some sort of prospect involved.

Who do you have in mind?  Keep in mind I am content with picking up an OF in free agency.  I also have Kennedy, Cunningham, and Buck all splitting time at OF, so my need isn't that big.

Ok I am looking into other options now. I myself am pretty content with my outfield situation right now, but I will listen to offers if you are into Drew.

I am looking to deal David Ortiz. That is the player I want to deal.

I have 16 picks going into this year's EDR so ALL picks are available.

A package of Ortiz and one or two of my prospects (Lars Anderson, Stolmy Pimentel, Junichi Tazawa, Reymond Fuentes, etc.) is what I want to deal for a premier middle infielder.

If anyone has a good offer, (I am already seeing what I can do with the Yankees) you can be sure I will seriously consider it.

The Boston Red Sox have a meager $1m of salary cap space, so this package would have to involve a player who is not paid way over $15m.

Thanks guys, I will try to remember to look at the trade block for interest, but if you really want to get some talks going, just PM me.

- Sammy

Zack Grienke on Block
« Reply #7 on: March 05, 2010, 05:36:53 PM »
Ok..Grienke is on the block. I am looking for at least 1 top SP prospect, maybe a nice expiring contract, and possibly 1 other top prospect. Something along those lines. Hit me up with some offers!
