Alexander Semin Contract

Not sure why no NHL team tried to claim him.  His peripheral numbers are great. There is no way his tiny NHL contract would be prohibitive to any team.  What a backwards league.  Better to keep guys like Chris Neil, Jordin Tootoo, Zac Rinaldo, Shawn Thorton or whatever garbage player occupies most teams 4th line in the NHL than a former 40 goal scorer.

Anyways since his contract was mutually terminated does that terminate his contract with me?  I know if he retires I have to keep it, but what about this?

Good question.  Does he have any reason to file retirement papers?

I don't think so.  Word on the street is he is going over to the KHL, so he'd have a new contract over there.

So, Semin didn't retire and has played like 5 games in the KHL.  Are we going to just eliminate this contract or am I stuck with it?   I await your ruling

I think you're stuck with him.

If an NHL player leaves to play overseas in another league, his contract remains in force unless the player is 35 or older and is gone for at least one NHL season.

oh my, you have semin all over you team.  I would hate to be in that sticky situation.  I think you are just going to have to take the Semin and swallow it.  You can spit about it all you want but hard to get that bad taste of a Semin situation out of your mouth.

I just wanted to wash my hands of this whole Semin situation.  You read article after article about how good Semin will be for you and your team; that Semin would be an offensive explosion.  Then they put Semin on the 1st line, let it slide down onto the 2nd line and then they just kind of put Semin wherever before outright throwing it away.  It has been terrible to watch.  His premature termination has really jammed me up.
