I'm not a TC member but you might want to look at the financial ramifications for the Tiger when approving this trade. $4m for Crawford and a huge raise for Weeks while the Tigers are hovering around the cap?

I certainly considered this when evaluating the trade.  I reviewed Weeks yesterday and the $16.5m he is due.  Weeks is at a premium position and has stayed healthy last season and this season.  Crawford is once again dealing with leg injuries (consistently hamstring or knee).  Even his best month this year, he has not shown to be the same OBP force. 

While I was not a fan of the $ going from Det to LAD with Crawford, I did not feel it was a reason to vote against the trade.  Crawford may turn out to be a bargain for LAD, but may not.  Weeks being a premium player at a weak position is the reason I approved this trade.

Are you sure Hank understands that he will be responsible for an additional $20.5m if he wants to secure Weeks for more than the rest of this year?.

Note sure where that number is coming from Rick, but it's 16.5M.

Like I already mentioned in a PM, Hank has 9.5M coming off his books just from Cordero and Lowe's contracts. There is a further 8M saving from the Crawford deal.

There are some GMs who think along the line of "why pay Weeks now when I get just bid for him on the free agent market?"
That logic is pretty flawed in my opinion. Corey has a 75M war chest, Kris has at least 30M to spend, Jeff has about 20M to spend, and I have at least 15M even if I resign Weeks. There is no way Weeks will be signed for less than the current market value in the open market. Last offseason, Nishioka went for 38M. It's more than reasonable to assume Weeks will get at least double that.

I think is just looking out and making sure that Hank knows the rules thats all. I mean I thought the same thing as Rick when I saw the deal. There is noway in heck he should pay any money on Crawford. Its complete dumb that he would. So Rick and I were at least on the same page, thinking if he is willing to pay Carl, maybe he doesnt know the rules or doesn't understand the extension.

Rick, thanks for voicing your opinion for the sake of a another team and the league. I applaud and think we all should do that more often.
