I don't really understand what the Reds get out of this trade. I get trading Matt Cain. He's on an expiring contract, and even at 70% resign, he will be a $7.0m extension. The Reds don't need him and he will certainly help fill a need for the Phillies. However, why do the Reds include Cesar Hernandez in this trade? The Reds are obviously on a rebuild, similar to what the Phillies were during the past season, so why trade a productive CI/MI on a (P-n/a) contract that is playing behind an aging veteran? Even when Utley comes back, Hernandez is playing well enough to warrant a continued spot in the starting lineup. SP Michael Feliz is certainly a promising prospect and is would be a welcome addition to anyone's staff. C Max Stassi, however, is an injury prone player who has never distinguished himself as an offensive threat. He is valued for his defensive abilities, but that isn't going to get you much in this league. If this was a 2 for 1 trade, Feliz and Stassi for Cain, it would me sense, but including Hernandez tips the balance too much in favor of the Phillies and it becomes a very lopsided trade.
I agree 100% with what Flash said. I hate vetoes but cannot approve this trade so let's put an end to this one.
