I know this is so off the topic right now but I was wondering if we can use defunct minor league franchises for our minor league logos?

Not sure on the order of operations as contracts expire....do I have it right?

IR Replacements and Contracts End - April 28th, 2013 @ 12:00pm
Extension Period 2 Begins - April 30th, 2013 @ 12:00am

The way I have been reading this is that IR replacements can be released/signed to an extension simultaneous to releasing unwanted expiring contracts.

Scenario: I would be able to move two IR replacements back to my minor system (say Nash and Shwartz) which is currently at 19/20 players. To make room I intended to drop someone like Mason.

The second part of this question is: will I be able to hold-over some expiring contracts so that I may extend them? Example: Justin Faulk.

I guess the confusion for me is really about the expiring contracts and how long they can stay on our rosters because I am assuming they don't all dissipate immediately.

The two-day window between contracts expiring and the extension period is just there to allow time to update the projected cap space isn't it?

So IR contracts can always be extended when released doesn't matter the time.

After the extension period the players who were not extended will be released to free agency.

Yes the two days are for me to try and ensure everything is up to date and everyone has released IR contracted players or moved them to the minors.

As contracts end on the 28th, can we not release players at this time to make room for movement to our minors?

Not sure that you are understanding what I am trying to clarify but I included some very specific examples in my original post.

Contracts end on the 28th, therefore I should be able to release (for example) *Chris Mason, $1.1m (2012-13) on the 28th. This would not be a buy-out.

If I have this wrong it could have a large impact on my roster.

Can we trade prospective FAs during the Extension Period 2 (April 30th, 2013 @ 12:00am to May 13th, 2013 @ 11:59pm)?

I think we decided in the past to not allow this because it is hard to determine what is a fair trade. Will wait to see what Drew says.

Yep trading is closed currently and will not be re-opened before the extension deadline passes.
